RE: FFMPEG version vs audio quality
Hi Simon, the build that is working on my NAS is really "armel". I' got a "Converter not installed" when I tried "armhf'.

RE: FFMPEG version vs audio quality
Thanks for letting me know. I checked this on my DS115 and I am seeing the same thing. This armhf build has used a compiler that generates Thumb-2 instructions, which aren't available on the Armada 385. It would work on some ARMv7 devices but not this one. I will update my earlier post to clarify this.

RE: FFMPEG version vs audio quality
@Jeffry67, having spent a bit of time with the new version of the ffmpeg, I am surprised at the extra resolution such a small change has made.

I have tried to install the version which works with AAC, but can’t get it right. Can you confirm the location on your NAS you loaded it to and the path.

Thanks in advance.

RE: FFMPEG version vs audio quality
Hi orange55, I thought the process of decoding audio files with FFMPEG was transparent (just like when we unzip a Word document to get the exact same file as when we zipped it). Obviously something's going on other than just "unzipping" the music. Digital music will always amaze me! I'm spending lots of time listening to music now and enjoying the improved sound.

I installed FFMPEG in the MinimServer opt/bin folder. I've created a "ffmpeg" folder there and put all the files and changed the "stream.converter" path to point it there : /volume1/MinimServer/opt/bin/ffmpeg/ffmpeg

RE: FFMPEG version vs audio quality
The only file that you need is the ffmpeg executable. This should be placed directly in the opt/bin directory. If you do this, MinimServer will find the file automatically with no need to set stream.converter manually.
