Grey icon of Minimwatch, Minimwatch does not see Minimserver

RE: Grey icon of Minimwatch, Minimwatch does not see Minimserver
If the device running MinimServer is at IP address 192.168.1.98, the problem appears to be that MinimServer is not running (so not related to MinimWatch). If MinimServer is running, entering http://192.168.1.98:9790/ in the browser would show the status web page.

RE: Grey icon of Minimwatch, Minimwatch does not see Minimserver
Simon,
Problem is solved, most likely by a reboot of my Synology NAS!
Is it correct that MinimServer is installed on the NAS, since MinimServer is shown as an App icon on the NAS browser?
So it could well be that after a Java update, MinimServer does not run anymore on the NAS for some reason. A reboot of the NAS (plus allowing Java traffic through the Firewalls) is probably all that is required.

Before the NAS reboot, the browser could "not make a connection" to MinimServer, but now the browser shows the following MinimServer Status:

MinimStreamer 0.7.14, Copyright © 2012-2019 Simon Nash. All rights reserved.
Media server status for MinimServer: Running

At a next occurance, I will first reboot my NAS, then check the firewall rules (since Norton allowed Java incoming traffic).

Anyway, thanks again for your very quick response.

A happy MinimServer user,
Gijs

RE: Grey icon of Minimwatch, Minimwatch does not see Minimserver
I don't think the problem was related to any firewall or Java update issues. For some reason, MinimServer on your NAS stopped running (crashed). You should always check for this first by using the MinimServer status web page.

If this happens, you can restart MinimServer from the NAS Package Center. It is not necessary to reboot the NAS. If this happens frequently, please let me know.

RE: Grey icon of Minimwatch, Minimwatch does not see Minimserver
Hello,

I have the same issue (Minimwatch is greyed out).
It used to work normally beforehand, but since a certain amount of time the icon is still grey.
I have checked my firewall settings and every entry of Java is allowed through the FW.

I have Minimwatch 2.1.2 installed on my PC (Windows 10)

I have Miniserver 2 installed on my NAS synology DS414 with DSM 6.2 (MinimServer 2.1.2 update 216), and my Java 8 package is 1.8.0_275

The log from Minimwatch is the following :

MinimWatch 2.1.2 update 96, Copyright © 2012-2022 Simon Nash. All rights reserved.
Java™ SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_333-b02)
Java HotSpot™ 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.333-b02, mixed mode)
Platform default charset is windows-1252
System platform is windows-x64
Active subnet is 169.254.0.0
Startup complete

Many thanks in advance for your help Simon

RE: Grey icon of Minimwatch, Minimwatch does not see Minimserver
The subnet 169.254.0.0 is a locally assigned subnet. This means that either the machine does not have a connection to your local network or something is blocking MinimWatch when it tries to access the network.

Is your network type set to public or private? If it is set to public, this could explain the problem.

I'm connected with Wi-Fi 5ghz. It was set to public but just chnaged it to private. I have relaunched Minimwtach but it is still grey. And I still have the subnet 169.254.0.0

I suggest you try powering the machine off and on to see if this enables the network to be found now that you have fixed the public/private issue.
