RE: No tray icon
The comment in the ohNet code for this error says:

// some hosts may have adapters that don't support multicast

Are your adapters configured not to support multicast? ifconfig should tell you.

RE: No tray icon
Success, somehow. Tried adding multicast to lo interface without success, then did a coldboot, added multicast again to the lo interface, clicked on desktop minimserver icon and watched it run properly and add the taskbar icon and now all is good.
I have a tray icon and can see the server from several different CPs. Not sure what did it, but I'm happy now.
Sent a donation too. Thanks for the help, the program. Makes life easier since most of my music is classical, not other.Rolleyes

RE: No tray icon
Glad to hear this is working now and many thanks for the donation.

I'm interested in why the interfaces weren't originally enabled for multicast. Is this the default with Linux Neon or was it a custom setting of yours?

RE: No tray icon
I don't know if it's a default or even if that's what fixed it, but I never changed it. Be aware that it was only the lo interface that didn't have multicast set. Not sure if that has any effect on traffic totally within the same system or if something else reset at the cold boot. The motherboard has 2 wired, eth1 and eth2, and both those were already set with multicast. I loaded a few other distros in a Virtualbox setup and never had an issue running in those, so somehow unique to my setup. We'll see if it stays at next reboot. I'll keep you advised.
Again thanks for the help and the program.

RE: No tray icon
Thanks very much for this information.

There was another interface eno2 (the 192.168.1.* subnet) that was also not usable by MinimServer/ohNet. This would make MinimServer unable to communicate via UPnP with other machines on your local network. Does eno2 mean anything to you? Does it show up in the ifconfig output?
