Shocked Yamaha firmware "upgrade" has broken BBC 320kbps
Hi All,

I stumbled across Minim Server a few months ago, and am loving the simplicity and reliability. I spent an afternoon recently setting up the MinimStreamer part to transcode the BBC radio stations from HLS-AAC to plain old AAC, using vTuner to point my Yamaha Musiccast devices towards the NAS and once I got it working BBC 6 Music sounded brilliant.

However, Yamaha have decided to ditch vTuner in favour of airable.radio via a firmware "upgrade" which has been rolling out since last week. It seems that they don't allow users to add custom radio stations, so there's now no way to point the Musiccast devices to the M3U file on the NAS.

Is there another way of doing this without using vTuner? I'd be grateful for any wisdom!

Kevin

If your MusicCast devices can play files from a UPnP/DLNA server, you can try the approach described on this page.

Thanks Simon, I've spent a few days playing around with this, but haven't been able to get it working. IN the Musiccast controller app, I can see the BBC playlist appearing, and when I click on it, I get the list of stations. But when I click on any of the stations I keep getting either an "Unable to Play" error or "Access Error".

I've tried changing the transcoding to L16 or WAV, but it doesn't seem to change the behaviour.

I've pasted the relevant sections of the log below, but I can't see any obvious problem.

I've rebooted the NAS (QNAP TS-253A), the switch, the BT WiFi Discs, the router (Mikrotik RB4011), and the Musiccast devices....none of which made a difference.

Very frustrating, but I won't give up! :-)

I love the way the forum software brightens up those dreary old log entries... Big Grin

RE: Yamaha firmware "upgrade" has broken BBC 320kbps
This log doesn't show what happens when the player attempts to connect to the server. Please try the following:

1) Set the logging level to Debug
2) In the log window, click "Clear"
3) Attempt to play a station (just once)

Did any new entries appear in the log window? If so, please post them here.
