Help with localisation, please!
Newbie - again!!
I have successfully renamed (to Italian) some of the tags (Artist, Composer etc.) so that they appear correctly in the control point display, but I don't see a way to customise the default ones visible in the control point (in my case, the naim app). By the default items I mean, amongst others, those which appear in square brackets e.g. [by folder] I would be most obliged if someone would be so kind as to give me some guidance as to how to achieve this. Simon, it would be nicer if translation existed in individual language properties files so that user can then:
1. Easily change language without having to do translation themselves 2. Not have to mix translation in with configuration as is currently the case. I expect if you provided the mechanism to do this you would find users happy to do the actual translation for you rather than having to do it yourself. |

RE: Help with localisation, please!
This makes sense for translating words and phrases that that are part of MinimServer itself, such as "folder view".
Index tag names would still need to be customizable because there are other reasons for renaming these as well as language translation and also because the user can define any tag names as part of his/her library and these names might not be covered by the system-provided translation table. |

RE: Help with localisation, please!
Indeed! It is a delicate balance and I am very mindful of this when considering whether to add a feature and how that feature should be designed. A very important consideration is how the new feature interacts with existing features and what this means in terms of added complexity.
