How to clear the cache
I have had an issue where I have changed some tag values on some albums but the new values are not being picked up by MinimServer when I restart.
I have had this a couple of times before but was able to get round it by changing the album name, restarting MS, then changing the album name back and restarting again.
However today had this problem and no amount of tag changing would get picked up. So I thought there must be a cache somewhere that gets maintained and presumably built when you start MS for the first time. Thought I would delete it and force a rebuild but couldn't find the cache files.
Ended up uninstalling MS on my QNAP 459 then reinstalling. This resolved the problem but it would be easier to delete a cache as reinstalling loses the customizations.
Can somebody tell where I find the cache files.
Thanks
Ps: changes were being detected OK by Twonky

Peter

I've had previous reports of this problem. They were caused by a setting in the configuration for the user's tagging program that caused tag changes to be written back to audio files without updating their timestamps. To prevent this from happening in the future, it would be a good idea to change this setting so that audio file timestamps are always updated when writing tag changes.

The cache is in the installation data directory. This is either /share/MD0_DATA/.qpkg/MinimServer/data or /share/HDA_DATA/.qpkg/MinimServer/data depending on the model of QNAP. The cache files have the extension .mcache and filenames corresponding to the name of the content directory. For example, if you have a content directory 'music', the cache files will be named 'music-1.mcache' and 'music-2.mcache'. If you delete all the .mcache files, you'll get a full update of all tag changes the next time you start MinimServer. To avoid any possible problems, I recommend that you disable MinimServer from the Package Center before you delete the .mcache files.

RE: How to clear the cache
Thanks Simon. I do have change time stamping off, I used it at one time to see when CDs were ripped. I now do this a different way so will switch it back on.
Thanks for info on the cache files in case I have to resort to that at some future date.
