Can't read certain type of audio files
I've successfully installed Minimserver on my QNAP TS212 (with 2x 2T in Raid 1 format) and using Lumin as the AV control. Everything is perfrect execept I just can't read the normal 44.1/16 WAV files and MP3 even after repeated restart of Minimserver (or the NAS). The other types of file include AIFF, ALAC, DSF, AAC are all fine.
Wonder what should I do to deal with this situation. Thanks in advance. |

Are you unable to see these tracks when browsing, or are you unable to select them for playing? Please describe the symptoms as fully as possible. Can you try this with some other control point, such as Kinsky? Does this make any difference? |

The tracks are simply missed in my Lumin Apps even after restarting Minimserver and updated library content. |

RE: Can't read certain type of audio files
Are you sure these files are properly tagged? LUMIN reads the tags, not folders. You mention WAV above. AFAIK WAV cannot store tags

RE: Can't read certain type of audio files
I had my tracks saved as WAV and tagged using MediaMonkey. When I started using MinimServer, it was like you, to use it with Lumin. However Lumin does not read the tags on WAV files, so you don't see them.
If you use Kinsky you will see them, but depending how they have been tagged, some may not be as you expect them. I didn't have this issue with Twonky which I had been using. So I decided to transfer all my WAV files to Flac, you can do this with MediaMonkey and I'm sure with many other programs. I then cleaned up a few remaining tags which were not being read correctly. I use the Wav24 option in MinimServer as I feel WAV arriving at my DS sounds better than Flac. I have not come across any downside from doing changing the format, in fact many programs have better support for flac. I am very pleased with MininServer and really like Lumin. I occasionally use Kinsky for stored playlists and for some custom tags. But Lumin is due to add some form of custom tag support so it will then be just playlists. I suggest you keep using Lumin with the files that are there for a while to make sure it's the control point you want to use. If so, go ahead and convert the files. Wonder whether similar issue will happen for DFF format?I also found Lumin control point is good as a new comer to audio streaming. |

MinimServer doesn't read tags from WAV files because this isn't part of the WAV specification. For the same reason, MinimServer doesn't read tags from DFF files. MinimServer does read tags from DSF files. MinimServer reads ID3v2 tags from MP3 files. It doesn't read ID3v1 tags. Is it possible that your MP3 files contain ID3v1 tags? If so, it's easy to convert these tags to ID3v2. |
