Import Date

I've added a tag to my music files holding the date of import into my music library. I use this with Minim to sort album lists in reverse order by date. Now I can use the album list to play recent imports. For more detailed ways of browsing, the order doesn't much matter, once I've narrowed down the set of files or albums.

The import-date is in J River internal date format, in which a value might be 41283.93948 (but with more decimal places). This doesn't seem to cause MinimServer any problems. I am wondering--

(1) Is there a way to tell MinimServer to read this tag, but not display it as a category? Since each album has a unique value, it's not useful that way.

(2) I could change the tag to hold formatted values, say yyyy-mm-dd-hhmm. Is there any reason to do that in terms of, say, memory usage in MinimServer? I *still* wouldn't be looking at it, just using it for sorting.

Not at present. I'll think about how this might be added in a future release.

There wouldn't be any advantage in doing this, unless you're already using the exact identical formatted value in some other tag.

It would be even better if this would not have to be tagged manually but if MinimServer adds the current date as soon as it scans new files. This could then be used to show a "recently added" list, whereas "recently" is ideally freely configurable in the setup (ie 4 weeks, 3 months. etc...)

agreed. been trying to figure out how to set up a tag for DateAdded.

Would also love to see this feature. Synology has something like "recently added" in their media server.
It would also be quite handy if minim could keep a log on which songs / albums have been played. But hey, minim is 0.72 atm, so it's natural to have a few wishes on the way to 1.0... Isn't it?

Hello, i use this function (recently added) with the synology server or the Logitech media server on synology : it lists the latest adds for probably one month, classified by dates.

It could really be nice to have that and use it on my renderers.

This is now possible using the itemTags property.

This is on the list of requested enhancements for a future release.
