Log error:- conflicting album tag value
Hi Simon,
I regret to say I still have not been able to sort out any of the albums for which minimserver log reports "conflicting album tag value". I deleted all the .mcache files and restarted minimserver but the new log shows the same problem albums/files even the ones which I have re edited using puddletag. Should I increase minimserver logging level and could you help me dig deeper please? It appears that all my files which I have tag edited with Easytag have this problem even after I have corrected the undocumented delimiter problem. There is a short thread on flac-request@xiph.org which considers both tagging and ripping as possible culprits but I have used several rippers over the years so have no ideas other than doing a few tests and documenting every stage. Any further advice would be appreciated. Many thanks. Budgie |

This is the first file of the CD but they all give the same error message. |

(22-01-2013 22:24)Budgie Wrote: Hi Simon, here is one line from the log:- I can't see anything wrong with the file you uploaded, and I don't get any error messages when I scan it using MinimServer. The error message you're getting indicates that MinimServer was scanning a file containing the ALBUM tag 'Libro VIII (René Jacobs)'. The file you uploaded contains the ALBUM tag 'Madrigali guerrieri ed amorosi_Libro VIII (René Jacobs)'. This suggests to me that the file you uploaded isn't the file that was giving the error. Is it possible that you have another version of the same file (with different tags) elsewhere in your library? |

RE: Log error:- conflicting album tag value
Hi Simon,
Red face here as I had forgotten the log data is appended to file with each start so I was looking at an error I had long ago corrected. Scrubbed the file and restarted and things are looking better although still similar errors to correct. Please forgive my stupidity. Meanwhile a quick question: how does minimserver update when new files are added to data directory. Is it automatic or is the correct approach to refresh or re-start? Regards Budgie |

On an similar note: my Synology DS is set to have a recycle bin enabled. Renaming / tagging music sometimes leads to having the old files looming in the trash. This might also lead to nice effects...
As for minim: It would be great if there was a GUI option to restart the server and create a new log from scratch. Also, it would be great if I could exclude individual sub-folders (like the /vomume1/music/recyle I mentioned earlier) from the scan. |

This might also lead to nice effects... You can clear the log file by deleting it. However, this doesn't clear the log entries from the log window. To clear these entries, I could add a Clear button to the log window. Would you also want the on-disk log entries to be cleared at the same time? Quote:Also, it would be great if I could exclude individual sub-folders (like the /vomume1/music/recyle I mentioned earlier) from the scan. A simple solution would be to put your music one level further down from the network share, so your music would be in /volume1/music/musicfiles and the recycle bin would be in /volume1/music/recyle. I'm using an extra level like this on my NAS. |

I'm using an extra level like this on my NAS. Hi, in some situations there are other folders which one doesn't want to be scanned. E.g., the Synology indexing service will also create hidden subdirectories for each media file containing embedded album art. Maybe an option in a future version of MinimServer to omit hidden directories when rescanning would be helpful (i.e. directories, whose names begin with a '.', '@' or '#' on UNIX systems). In fact the Synology recycle directory is named e.g. '/volume1/music/#recycle'. |
