Smile Sonos
Currently i use Minimserver on a Mac Mini with a Linn Akurate DSM. However we have just purchased a Sonos connect;amp to use in another room and it cannot see the media server.

Does Minimserver for Mac support sonos? If so how do i get to visible to the player?

MinimServer supports the standard UPnP AV protocol. Sonos uses a proprietary protocol, which means it doesn't interoperate with standard UPnP servers. Sonos has limited support for UPnP servers, but this only covers two specific UPnP servers (Windows Media Player and Rhapsody).

I suggest you contact Sonos and ask if they plan to extend their UPnP support to cover other standard UPnP servers. This would be the only way to make MinimServer accessible from Sonos.

^ Seriously though Simon, if you know Sonos as well as I do, what chance has *that* of ever happening?

The chance should be approximately proportional to the number of prospective customers who contact them and make this request. Smile

^..yeh or as likely that Sonos will support 24bit files which has been a request for near on 5 years now...

They are simply *not* interested in Audiophiles

They have lost their innovative edge.

Sonos is a great product. I've had it for years. But they have dumbed it down for the masses....
