RE: Java Exception Error after Update
For those with issues on Raspberry Pi, I will rebuild the ohNet module using an older compiler. I think this will fix the problem and I hope to have the fix available later today.

As an interim solution, you can downgrade to update 110 by doing the following:

1) From the minim icon on the Raspberry Pi desktop, select Properties
2) In the Properties window, select the Packages tab
3) In the 'Other package' field, type: minimserver-0.8-update-110
4) Click Install and follow the prompts
5) When installation is complete, click Relaunch

Hi Simon,
Qnap TS 559 Pro II with firmware 4.2.6, Minimserver 0.8.4.5, JRE 8.144.0.

FYI having found greyed out watch icon I stopped watch and tried to restart. Received a couple of errors and minimwatch failed to start.

Rebooted the NAS and no immediate joy but after returning to machine after a couple of hours away the minimwatch icon was back and was green.

If you wish I can send the minimwatch logs but am on different machine at present.
Meanwhile all is good once more.

This didn't work because the desktop app wasn't starting, and therefore the tray icon wasn't appearing. So there was nowhere to click for 'properties'. However, I was able to do the rollback from the command line - using 'startc', and then using the packages command.

Having done the roll back. The desktop app now starts normally.

RE: Java Exception Error after Update
Using the 'startc' command and 'install minimserver-0.8-update-110' worked for me also.

Simon, many thanks for your support even on a Sunday.

Kind regards

RE: Java Exception Error after Update
I had the same problem but found a solution through another route. I am still running Jessie on the server.

This is what I did:

- Edit the package source file with sudo nano /etc/apt/sources.list
- Replace jessie with stretch in that file to point to the testing repository that has the gcc-5 package
- sudo apt-get update to refresh the list of packages
- sudo apt-get install gcc-5 to install v5.3.1-11 (at time of writing) of the compiler

This is where I found this solution:

RE: Java Exception Error after Update
The problem should be fixed now. I have recompiled the ohNet module with an older level of gcc and replaced it on the update server.

If you currently have the bad version of ohNet on your machine, do the following:

1) From a command prompt, run minimserver/bin/startc
2) After you get the startup error, type: remove minimserver-0.8-update-111
3) Type: install minimserver-0.8-update-111
4) Type: relaunch
5) After MinimServer restarts successfully, type: exit

You should now be able to run MinimServer normally.

Minim Watch when launched, just gives a greyed out symbol and all the options in the dropdown menu are greyed out too.

I would have thought that by restarting the QNAP NAS, it would have also stopped and restarted the App too.

Do I need to remove the app and reinstall on the NAS?

In the App Center of the QNAP NAS, there should be an icon for MinimServer. Are you saying that the drop-down menu for this icon has all options greyed out? Or are you saying that options in the MinimWatch pop-up menu are greyed out?

To fix the problem, you need to select Start from the MinimServer icon in the QNAP App Center. You don't need to change anything on the MinimWatch side.

I tried the stop/start method from within the QNAP App Centre, many times - but to no avail.

However, leaving it 'stopped' for several hours and then restarting, did the trick!

Thank you for all your support Big Grin

I don't know why leaving it stopped for a longer time would make a difference but I am glad that it is working now.
