QNAP NAS 419
Hello
I did all the recommender steps to install the mini server and it shows a green icon in the QPKG center, no error message in system log. But I do not see see server in any UPnP player nor in MinimWatch on another Mac. I restarted the NAS and did all the other recommendations, like turning of the firewall of the Mac. Nothing. Any ideas? Thank you Ulrich |

RE: QNAP NAS 419
Just realized: the JRE installer points to a JRE which only works with x86 processor.
"Java Runtime Environment 6 which enables to run the compiled Java programs on the NAS (supports only x86-based NAS)" Any ideas where to get the one for ARM? Thank you Ulrich |

RE: QNAP NAS 419
Yes thank you I know and followed all steps.
I downloaded the JRE from this page, but it still says, after installing, only for x86. Best Ulrich |

Please check the system log on the QNAP to see if there are any error messages. If you don't see anything there, please disable and enable MinimServer from the QPKG Center, then open a command shell on the QNAP using SSH, then type the commands: ls -l /tmp/minim*.log ls -l /share/Public/minim*.log You should see some matching log files in one or both of these directories. What do these log files contain? |

RE: QNAP NAS 419
well, as that screenshot of the Java pgk says in fat letters, it is x86 NAS only. If your NAS is ARM there may not be a qpkg file available, which means you have to install Java manually.
the link in Simons post earlier provides the details as to how to do that. bbrip |

RE: QNAP NAS 419
There are no error messages in the sys log.
Using SSH: [~] # ls -l /tmp/minim*.log -rw-r--r-- 1 admin administ 0 Dec 28 15:24 /tmp/minimserver-out-10470.log -rw-r--r-- 1 admin administ 0 Dec 28 15:50 /tmp/minimserver-out-14326.log -rw-r--r-- 1 admin administ 0 Dec 28 16:44 /tmp/minimserver-out-18203.log -rw-r--r-- 1 admin administ 0 Dec 28 14:36 /tmp/minimserver-out-362 best Ulrich |

The length of 0 for the minimserver-out-nnnnn.log files is consistent with having the wrong version of Java installed. From an SSH command prompt, please type ths command: java -version What output does this produce? |

If your NAS is ARM there may not be a qpkg file available, which means you have to install Java manually. The QNAP displays this message when it's true, and also when it's not true. This is because the QPKG that installs the ARM JRE has the same name (JRE) as the QPKG that installs the x86 JRE, and the QNAP firmware is getting confused between these two different QPKGs.
