RE: Minim now won't start
It sounds like there is a problem with your contentDir setting. You should be able to view this by selecting Properties from the red minim icon. What does it say?
Edit: This isn't related to MinimStreamer. I will move this thread to the correct forum section. |

RE: Minim now won't start
Thanks. Since I rebooted I am not getting a red Minim icon in the tray at all. Double clicking either the Minim Watch or Minim Server icons on the desktop has no effect whatsoever and "properties" there are probably not what we are looking for

RE: Minim now won't start
The red icon is probably in the overflow area of the system tray. Click the upward-pointing arrow in the system tray to see the contents of this area.

RE: Minim now won't start
Nope. I looked there first. Minim just ain't playing at the moment. Click on Start from start bar, or from C/ProgFiles.....nothing.
So I unistalled again and re-downloaded Watch and Server and launched from download.....still nothing I made no changes to the computer to cause this. It was just put to sleep overnight and woken up the following day to the dirIndex message I began this with Pity because I did like it but if we can get it to work stably then I'll have to stick with the more cumbersome Asset A mystery... to me anyway So, no alternative but the nuclear option Uninstal Java, MinimServer, MinimWatch Reboot Reboot again Re-download Java Instal Verify Reboot Instal MinimServer, but do not launch Reboot Instal MinimWatch, but do not launch Reboot Launch MinimServer Tedious, tedious, tedious but....... SUCCESS Re direct Minim to Nas's with music. Now scanning. Hoping for music later on What caused this remains a mysery How long it will stay stable likewise Only time will tell |

Only time will tell If it happens again, check the logs of your security software (or try running MinimServer with the security software temporarily disabled). Sometimes, security software treats Java applications with suspicion. In any event, you would be well advised to go into your Java settings and disable Java in your web browser (unless you need it for some web-based application, which is fairly rare these days). That one action will remove most of the security concerns associated with Java. David |

(06-01-2017 00:20)GordonP Wrote: Instal MinimServer, but do not launch It sounds like you are running MinimServer and MinimWatch on the same PC. There is no need to do this and I suggest you uninstall MinimWatch. The only reason to have MinimWatch installed is to control MinimServer when MinimServer is running on a different machine. |

RE: Minim now won't start
Thank you both for your great support
I've taken your advice and disabled Java in Firefox, and taken Watch off one machine but left it on the other I'm hoping it's now sorted |
