feature request: Server Properties Window
Might have been requested before, unsure since pretty new in here.
I'm fiddling with minim since a couple of days now. And I still wonder why the Properties do allow separated lines for the contentDir section which does contain rather short content (even if pointing to a NAS) while the tagFormat is impossible to be checkes without scrolling even if the windows gets span across my 2 24inchers. I only see a subsection and while fiddeling with the defintions I already ended up having had an item defined 2 times .. ones at the very left and another times at the end. Same applies for the config file since that was the next best idea I had. Let's edit the config file straight. but minim doesn't like reading configlines in the form 'identifier' followed by content and simply does concatenate the definitions if there's multiple lines using the same identifier. It expects it all as a 1-liner, which makes it as unreadable as the within the properties windows. Granted, once one managed the configuration this becomes of pretty low interest, but for beginners this is essential to loop through settingsmodification, followed by checking the result, next loop. |

It is an interesting idea to automatically wrap long lines but this might be difficult to inmplement. The existing layout took several weeks of work, mostly getting to grips with the deep mysteries of Java Swing. MinimServer should inform you if you have any duplicate settings. Some settings in there should not be changed by the user and it is very easy to make MinimServer nonfunctional if you make a mistake. In the near future, the format of this file will change and it will no longer contain editable text. |
