Identifying my Stream Identifier

.m3u  BBC Radio.m3u (Size: 7.31 KB / Downloads: 4)

Hi,

Last week I was able to record radio programmes on my Synology 214Play NAS. Now when I try is says 'unknown stream identifier' in the 'stream.record' line, despite using the same name. I have modified my m3u list though by replacing the http with itls to get the higher quality sound.

I entered r3+1930-2000 and it doesn't recognise the r3 as my Radio 3 stream.

How do I get it to record now please? I have attached my m3u list.

Regards,

Michael

There is no attachment to your post. Your problem is caused by changing http to itls. Why did you think this would give you higher-quality sound?

Hi - Isn't the attachment above my text? It appears thus on my screen. I changed the http to itls because I read online that the HLS streams required this change now - I have attached a screenshot with the info that told me this.

My apologies, I didn't see your attachment because it was at the start of your post rather than at the end.

The screenshot that you posted says that itls is required for playing these streams in iTunes. If you are playing these streams in MinimServer, you need to use http, not itls. There is no difference in sound quality between itls and http.

Hi Simon,

Many thanks for your help. I have reverted to the previous list which all begin with http.

One point which I've never known (as I've only recorded Radio 3 so far!) is how to tell what the identifier actually would be anyway - I knew Radio 3 was R3 (very logical) because you told me some time ago, but I wouldn't know what to specify for say Radio Manchester from my list if I ever wanted to record from that. How can I tell what the first bit of the record code would be for my other channels?

Thanks,

Michael

RE: Identifying my Stream Identifier
The recording filename depends on what stream identifier you have chosen to use in your .m3u file. From your attachment, it looks like you have used MA for Radio Manchester.

Hi Simon,

I see. So it is the bit in brackets at the start without the * then. I copied the list from something I found online some time ago.

Thanks for you help and speedy replies. I have sent a donation - you work really well at this and nobody online ever matches the speed of your replies! Brilliant work!!

Thanks again,

Michael
