Can UPnP Search also search playlists?
Simon, is it supported for the UPnP search function to include searching playlists? These are .m3u files indexed by the server as opposed to local ones.

For example I have about 100 playlists (and growing) and I have recently had a reason to search for a particular artist's track among them to find the right playlist. The search only returns the artists/tracks that match though - so is it feasible for it to include any playlists that contain tracks or artists with the search string in the return also?

EDIT: I've also just noticed that "Tracks" returned from a search include all tracks that have the search term in the album title. Is this correct behaviour?

This is not supported by MinimServer or by any control points and it would be very difficult to implement this given the constraints of the UPnP Search specification.

This depends on the search query sent by the control point. Which control point are you using?

Thought as much re. playlist searching. Oh well, had to ask Wink

CP is Linn Kazoo. I wondered whether it may be that after I posted the thread. I don't have access to any other servers or CPs that support search so couldn't track it down. Is it known that Kazoo does this, and is it something to raise on their forum?

See this post for details of the search queries sent by Kazoo.

The problem (from your perspective) is the second query:

upnp:class derivedfrom "object.item.audioItem" and ( dc:title contains "foo" or upnp:album contains "foo" or upnp:artist contains "foo" or upnp:genre contains "foo" )

This returns not only tracks containing "foo" in the track title but also tracks containing "foo" in the album name, the artist name or the genre.

Thanks Simon. I've found the original Linn thread that Martin posted. I have to say it seems odd to me so will raise it there.
