Please post a screenshot of your Downloads folder, showing the two MinimServer files that you have downloaded.

What do you mean by "try to open" the file? What exactly are you doing when you try to open it?

Here are shots of the Download and Synology MinimServer screens, the other file is no longer in my download folder today.

Thanks for these. You have downloaded the MinimServer file for Windows, not the MinimServer file for Synology. The MinimServer file for Synology is named MinimServer-0.8.3.4-x64.spk.

There is a detailed list of instructions in this section. See step 3 for a solution to this problem.

There are a few possible reasons for this.

Please use File Station to look at the contents of the MinimServer/appData folder. Does it contain files named minimserver.log and/or minimserver-out.log? If so, please copy and paste the contents of these files here.

Please also check the system log (available via Log Center in the main menu) to see if there are any log messages relating to MinimServer. If so, please post them here.

RE: no Java 8
Hi Simon.
I have DSM 6 and just upgraded to Java 8.
After the update, they are active both Java 7 and Java 8.
I manually uninstall Java 7? or should remain the two.
Regards

You could leave them both running but I think it is a good idea to uninstall Java 7.

RE: no Java 8
The app/Data folder has several minimserver.log files and -out.log, but copy/paste doesn't work going from Synology to your screen. A screenshot is too large to upload.

Haven't looked at the Sys log yet.

And I just realized in my Main Menu screen the minimserver icon is not active, I get 'Windows cannot open...', is this normal ?

Don't understand why I would not have Java 8 if nonesup has ??

This is getting to be a.....?
