Installation manual: restart minimserver
After upgrading my Synology NAS to DSM6 I did forget to install minimstreamer, so I did this today.

But I did run into an issue that after installing minimstreamer and restarting minimserver by choosing "restart" in the minimwatch commandline, the stream.* properties did not occur in the minimwatch "props" list. I had to stop and start the minimserver package via DSM to see them. Maybe the manual should describe the mentioned restart in more detail to make this clearer...

Thank you
Gert

You need to select Relaunch from the Packages tab, not Restart from the minim icon. The need for a relaunch to apply package changes is stated clearly in the text on the Packages tab.

Ah ok. Because of the problems with the missing context menu of minimwatch in KDE5, I did use the command line version to install the package. Maybe I have overlooked such an instruction in the text version, or maybe it is missing there?

The message from the console command is:

Package <packageName> will be activated at the next relaunch

RE: Installation manual: restart minimserver
Ok, but then I expect that the "restart" command of minimwatch would do exactly this. But it did not.

'relaunch' and 'restart' are different commands. See this section.

Ok, sorry, I was not aware of the difference. Coming from linux where daemons are "relaunched" with "restart" and "restarted" with "reload" I am used to a different wording.

I understand. All these words are very overloaded with different meanings. Sad
