Yes, have never known a DSM routine update to do this to Minimserver but it happened to me today.

It seems that Synology doesn't like MinimServer these days. The problems started when DSM 6.0 beta was released. Since then, I have submitted numerous versions to Synology for testing and inclusion in the Package Center but every time (after a long delay) they find some minor issue and reject it. It now appears that Synology has put MinimServer on a "black list" for removal even though the user has installed it manually.

Edit: Synology has replied to my query about this, saying that MinimServer is not removed by the DSM 6.0.1 update but is only disabled by the update. This matches what I have found in my own testing.

Thanks for that Simon - as Minimserver delivers gapless playback for my FLAC files and Synology seem incapable of it, I find their approach a tad bizarre. Makes me less likely to stay with them - there are plenty of other options after all!

RE: Guidance for upgrading to Synology DSM 6.0
I tried updating DSM 6.0 to 6.0.1 on my DS115. MinimServer was stopped (but not uninstalled) after the 6.0.1 update.

I started MinimServer from the Package Center and it started OK but produced a message saying that the Java installation was corrupted.

After this, I stopped and restarted MinimServer from the Package Center. This worked OK and there was no message about Java.

I am working on a change to MinimServer that should fix this issue. I will post back here when the new download is available.

MinimServer 0.8.4.2 is now available and should fix this issue if it is installed on DSM 6.0 before the DSM 6.0.1 update is performed.

Nice to see this fix. Thank you. I had this problem yesterday, too. BubbleUPnPServer shows the same fault.

RE: Guidance for upgrading to Synology DSM 6.0
Am I only the person seeing MinimServer partially crash on DS213j, ie. is not discoverable, but web page is still accessible on port 9790? I've worked with Simon on this but the problem only appears when logging is not set to anything other than verbose/debug so being able to pin point the problem is a challenge. I have to stop and restart MinimServer with DSM reporting each time it had to forcibly kill the process. I think the culprit is something to do with ohNet as this additionally can no longer handle the my router re-booting over night, these problems have occurred ever since DSM 6 came onto the scene...

Thanks, SoundAdikt.

RE: Guidance for upgrading to Synology DSM 6.0
Thank you bbill, at least it isn't just me, it's a shame because it makes MinimServer far less usable than it used to be because it's almost always not accessible next time I go back to playing music requiring me to login back into DSM and stop and restart MinimServer.

After you get the problem and before you restart MinimServer, please use File Station to look in the MinimServer/appData folder. Do you see any error messages in the minimserver.log file? Do you see any files whose names start with minimserver-crash or hs_err_pid?
