New tutorial on tagging digital music
For the past 3-4 months I have been working on a guide to tagging digital music. It should be useful to anyone new to this topic, but what makes it somewhat unusual is that it includes the information that serious jazz and classical listeners need to go beyond the usual Artist/Album/Track setup. This is the kind of resource I wish I had had when I first ventured into digital audio. Since 2/3 of my listening is classical, it was kind of like jumping right into the deep end of the pool.
I will eventually put the book up on my personal web site. Before unleashing it on an unsuspecting world, however, I would like to have a few people read it and send me any comments they may have. The ideal reader would be someone new to the complexities of tagging, but if any experienced folks have time I'd appreciate it. Feel free to skip around and focus on sections that seem most interesting to you. The book deals with a variety of software, not only MinimServer, but Minim certainly gets its fair share of attention. I have also benefited from the threads about music tagging on this forum, for which I am grateful. PM me with your preferred email address if you're interested and I will send you a PDF. Thanks! |

Definitely worth a read, so thanks. I'm reasonably well experienced in tagging, but still found it very useful.

RE: New tutorial on tagging digital music
Hello
I am interested as well. Long time ago (in 1994) I use to teach database, and the exercice I gave my student was "sketch a conceptual model of classical music". A nightmare (for them :-). Thx |
