MinimWatch vs. VPN
Hi folks, I wonder if someone can assist a newbie...
I've installed MinimServer on my ReadyNAS and it seems to be working fine. I installed MinimWatch on a headless server which is running a VPN client (Private Internet Access or PIA). I noted that MinimWatch could not see the MinimServer (grey icon). I disconnected the PIA connection and the MinimWatch icon immediately turned green and works fine. It continues to work fine after restarting PIA. But I must always start MinimWatch first. Not the worst thing, but I wonder if there is a way to resolve this minor annoyance. Cheers, RLW |

If the machine running MinimWatch has a VPN client running, it will have a second "virtual" network adapter for the VPN. This might cause MinimWatch to select the VPN adapter for listening instead of the regular adapter. You can solve this problem by setting the ohnet.subnet property for MinimWatch (not MinimServer) as decribed in this section. |

RE: MinimWatch vs. VPN
Thank you Simon, I'll look into the ohnet.subnet setting to effect a correct configuration.
Reading the installation instructions it seemed that I had to install MinimWatch somewhere, if only for ease of seeing the MinimServer logs. Yet it didn't seem like something I needed direct access on my desktop system on a regular basis. So I have a headless server running 24/7 anyway and thought I would just put MinimWatch there. I RDP to that system somewhat regularly anyway. Just less "stuff" on my workstation. Cheers, RLW |
