Asterisk *20 instead of space
Hi, everyone,
I`m using minimserver together with Jriver on my PC. When I list the directory view all the folders have asterisks and 20 instead of spaces, but the files within are fine.. that`s weird... with any other dlna server except minimserver I get spaces in folder names. Let me give you an example - folder is named Al*20Di*20Meola*20-*20Consequence*20of*20Chaos*20 instead Al di Meola - Consequence of Chaos. Does it have to do with Jriver?
Thank you all.
g.

Please post a screenshot of a JRiver window that shows this problem. Which version of JRiver are you using?

Thanks, this is very helpful.

Which other DLNA servers are giving you spaces in folder names when you browse them using JRiver?

Twonky seems to work OK and the one that comes with Synoogy Media Server too, however I prefer Minim to be honest.. :-)

Thanks! I will investigate what JRiver is doing when connected to these other servers and get back to you when I have more information.

I tried both these servers with JRiver and I didn't get any folder names (with or without spaces) under Disk Location. Can you post a screenshot of the disk location information you are seeing in JRiver with either of these servers?

RE: Asterisk *20 instead of space
I am seeing this when I query Minimserver from a client to obtain the url to use in for example a playlist in the client

http://192.168.1.109:9790/minimserver/*/...icide.flac

This confuses most clients Volumio and Moode for example

I have tried decoding the expression with limited success but maybe I am missing a setting somewhere

Thanks

Mike

RE: Asterisk *20 instead of space
This URL is correct and valid. You should be able to use it "as is" in a .m3u playlist (including the http prefix). If a control point can't handle the '*' characters, this is a bug in the control point.

However, normal practice would be to use a file path instead, preferably a relative path in case your library is ever moved. For example, if your .m3u playlist is located in the Music1 folder, the relative path would be:

Canterbury/Art Bears/1978 Hopes And Fears (Mini LP SHM-CD Belle Japan 2015)/01 - On Suicide.flac

with no http prefix.

In past I have recommended oddgravity Playlist Creator as a simple way to create .m3u playlists in this format. It appears the oddgravity website no longer exists but the program can still be downloaded from this page.
