Flac error
Hi Simon,
I started using Minimserver/Minimstreamer with Jplaystreamer 6. I did not donate to the cause but have done so now as I find the performance superb and your support beyond reproach.

I have a recurring issue. Using BubbleDS Next as control point and Jplaystreamer as renderer. The Debug log says:

HTTPConnection: exception while processing HTTP request: com.minimstreamer.FLACResource$ReaderInterruptedException
com.minimstreamer.FLACResource$ReaderInterruptedException
at com.minimstreamer.FLACResource$Listener.processError(FLACResource.java:691)
at org.kc7bfi.jflac.FrameListeners.processError(FrameListeners.java:83)
at org.kc7bfi.jflac.FLACDecoder.readFrame(FLACDecoder.java:733)
at org.kc7bfi.jflac.FLACDecoder.readNextFrame(FLACDecoder.java:498)
at com.minimstreamer.FLACResource.readNextFrame(FLACResource.java:288)
at com.minimstreamer.FLACResource.open(FLACResource.java:215)
at com.minimserver.ServerRequestHandler.processRequest(ServerRequestHandler.java:408)
at org.jminim.lib.HTTPConnection$WriterThread.runWriterThread(HTTPConnection.java:458)
at org.jminim.lib.HTTPConnection$WriterThread.run(HTTPConnection.java:418)

and the next track in the playlist doesn't. If I manually play the next track it's fine.

i get this regardless of resolution (16/44.1, 24/96) I have converted flac to flac. The recurrence rate is about 50%. Files reside on USB3 drive that scans error free. I've tried different USB3 cables, tried bypassing the USB hub all with no change.

Any ideas? Thanks,

Nick

This usually means there is a problem with the FLAC file. Do you get the problem on 50% of the FLAC files but not on the other 50%, or do you get it on the same FLAC file 50% of the time?

The latter. If i replay the transition it might be fine, or not.

What is "the transition"?

Immediately after the problem happens, please click 'Save as' from the log window to save the complete debug log, then zip the saved log file and attach it to a post here. Many thanks!

"transition" is transition from one track to the next which is where I get the stoppage in play. Last night I reinstalled the USB host controller driver but I don't think it helped anything. I played a few tracks successfully this morning but then had the music stop again on track change. Debug log is attached.

Thanks for this. From the log, the last few tracks were:

Ozark (started streaming 07:55:15, ended streaming 07:55:42)
Take My Hand, Precious Lord (started streaming 07:55:44, ended streaming 07:56:21)
God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen (started streaming 07:59:52, ended streaming 07:59:54)

Was it the last track that failed to start? The log shows that MinimServer was slow to respond to the request to stream this track and JPlayStreamer closed the connection after waiting 2 seconds.

I suspect that your USB disk is occasionally responding slowly to I/O requests for some reason. Does the disk spin itself down when there has been no activity for a certain amount of time?

Yes the last track failed to start. I had a feeling that the disk might be snoozing..i thought i'd disabled all the power saving though. Is there something specific i can look for? Thanks for your assistance.

I don't know what USB disk you are using or what power saving modes it supports. If you can post full details, someone might be familar with this model and might be able to provide some pointers.

You should be able to put your ear close to the disk and hear when it is spinning down and spinning up again. Sometimes you can feel this by touching the case.

Thanks, it's a Silicon Power A60 1TB USB3

Nick

There doesn't seem to be much technical information about this available online. Sad
