Bielefelder catalog
I have a large classical music collection, and it would be too time consuming to tag composers, artists and ensembles by hand, let alone all the mistakes I would make.
What are the automated solutions? I was thinking of (a possibility to) import data from existing catalogs like http://www.bielekat.info. These are used by music shops (in the past in in paperback) and very well organized. Any exerience? CMI databases? Online CDDB's for classical music? |

RE: Bielefelder catalog
Excellent idea!
The easiest way to automatically retrieve tagging information from that online database might be a Mp3Tag web sources script: http://forums.mp3tag.de/index.php?showforum=23 |

The best solution I have been able to find is to use the MusiCHI tagging software. It has its own database of composers and compositions and that helps greatly to uniformly tag at least those two tags. There is also an artist database available but unfortunately MusiCHI puts this into the "album artist" category which IIRC is not ideal for MinimServer. I have used the MusiCHI software on my project of digitising my entire CD collection. I have now ripped and tagged over 4000 CDs and that procedure has worked very well for me. I have described the MusiCHI software in another thread, if you're interested. |
