MinimStreamer - newbie question
Hi there,

Just installed Minimstreamer to check out the transcoding feature (and the reported sound improvements Smile )

How do I know, that the transcoding works?
Will e.g. Lumin or any other renderer show the input format or the outpu format?

(I tried a 16 Bit Flac file to wav24 but it still showed 16 bit flac, same for 24 Bit Flac)

Is there an easy way to compare with/without transcoding? Meaning turn it off for a track vs. Deactivating for all tracks in Minimwatch.

Thank you

I guess I found it in MinimWatch log, correct?

It will show the output format in the Now Playing screen.

You need to make the control point refresh the current container in order to activate a change to transcoding settings. If you are using the LUMIN app as the control point, this requires a reload of the server library.

This depends on the control point. Which control point are you using?

Hi Simon,

Thanks for your answer.

I did a reload but the information in now playing is still the input format.
I also tried Kinsky and KazoO with the same result.

Somehow I must miss something obvious...

PS. Not sure what I did, reloaded once more and now it is working.

What is the input format of the files you are playing? What are you using in the stream.transcode property?

Edit: Just saw your edit. I'm glad it's working now.

RE: MinimStreamer - newbie question
Any suggestions how I could do an easy comparison of input format (flac) vs output format (wav24)?

As renderers are available Lumin, Kazoo and Kinsky (and Plugplayer if needed).

Thank you

I suggest you use Kinsky. With transcoding enabled, add a transcoded track to the playlist and play the track to confirm it is transcoded. Next, disable transcoding and refresh the library container, then add the untranscoded version of the same track to the playlist. The tracks will look the same on the playlist but one will be transcoded and one will be untranscoded. Don't restart the server while you are adding the second track to the playlist.

With these two tracks on the playlist, you can flip back and forth between them to compare.

RE: MinimStreamer - newbie question
Thank you, it did work well.

As far as differences are concerned, there might be a small one. Of course the effect may differ by system (and by earsBig Grin), I'm listening with a Klimax Exakt system.
