I have been experimenting with different approaches. My current opinion is that the Artist index entries for a track should be:

1) a single index entry for the AlbumArtist tag for the track's album, if there is one

2) if 1) doesn't apply, separate index entries for all Artist tags for the track

The current behaviour of combining multiple track artists into a single Artist index entry would be dropped. The Artist.indexFormat option would also be dropped because I don't think it is possible to make this handle multiple artists in a reasonable way.

Any feedback on these proposed changes would be much appreciated.

Has this functionality been removed? I have just noticed my artists have gone back to being displayed as "Name & Name" (a single artist entry) and not separately in the Artist index.

It should still be working unless you have overridden it by specifying the Artist.indexFormat option.

Yes, that's what I was referring to.

I've checked this on the latest update level (update 77) and it is working OK for me. Please check the About dialog to make sure you are running this level.

The Artist index shows the value of the AlbumArtist tag if you have one. Do you have any AlbumArtist tags containing multiple artist names?

Are you getting "name & name" as you said in your post or is it "name, name". To get "name & name", you would either need to have an indexFormat option with a separator of & or have the files tagged in this way.
