Please produce a similar debug log for attempting to play an aac or m4a file and I will look at it.

It looks like you don't have the mp4:wav24 setting in the stream.transcode property.

I thought aac and m4a were the same thing. I added mp4:wav24 and now m4a plays.

The 'aac' setting is used for AAC ADTS streams only. With some renderers, it's useful for the user to be able to choose a different transcoding setting for these files than the setting for mp4/m4a fles containing AAC audio data. See this section for details of all the transcoding input and output types.
