Hi-Rez recordings not displayed
I'm using a Synology server, running MinimServer 0.8.2 update 32.

All seems well except that it doesn't serve up the higher res .aif files. They are served by the J River server (which has other problems, only presenting Album and Artist sorts).

Am I missing something basic?

Any assistance will be appreciated.

Steve

What is the resolution of the files that don't play?

What exactly happens when you try to play one of these files?

Have you checked the MinimServer log for error messages?

Which control point are you using?

Which renderer are you using?

The resolution of the files is 96K and 24 bits.

I can't play them because they aren't displayed in the list of albums, etc. I'm not attempting to use any special "renderer".

Otherwise, the server presents all other albums/files without issues.

I am able to play them when they are served by the J-River server.

I suspect there is a problem with the formatting of these files. There was a bug in earlier versions of JRiver that caused some ripped files to be written in an incorrect format. Also, some files purchased from Qobuz have a similar format error. If this is the problem, you will see error mesages about these files in the MinimServer log.

Your suspicion was correct. The files were indeed reported as an error in the server log.

I was able to correct them, changing their size by only a couple bytes by using J-River. I selected the files and initiated a format conversion to AIFF, replacing the existing files in the directory and in J-River.
After a server rescan, they appeared and played correctly.

Thanks
