RE: Error: unexpected end of file in WAV
Simon

You are a GENIUS!

"I think there is a good chance that running this file (as edited by Metadatics) through a dBpoweramp WAV to WAV conversion will enable it to load in MinimServer and will retain the changes that Metadatics has made."

It worked - Thanks!

Best
Gregg

Now - I think that whomever is following this thread needs to be forewarned - purchased files from Qobuz, HDTracks etc. are not always what they are supposed to be i.e. CORRECTLY prepared and tagged!

RE: Error: unexpected end of file in WAV
And as a FINAL followup

All files successfully loaded - and now for the comparison between the 24 bit FLAC download and the 24 bit WAV download. FLAC sounds better!

Imho something must have happened during the Dbpoweramp WAV to WAV conversion?
Interestingly enough desktop Kazoo reports the FLAC file to be HD while the WAV file (which is also 24 bit) is not showing the HD symbol.

Regardless of the symbol Kazoo shows - the FLAC sound better on my KDS/1

Strange!

Can you try enabling MinimStreamer flac:wav24 transcoding for another comparison point? I would be interested to know whether this sounds better or worse than FLAC on your system.

I will install the latest version of Metadatics and try this myself to see if I get the same error.

Hi Simon

Many thanks four your prompt response. It will be interesting to see what you find. I have also sent a mail to Metadatics support to see if they have any ideas.

Thanks

I tried this and I didn't get any error message from MinimServer 0.8.3 after editing a WAV file with the latest version of Metadatics. Are you still seeing this problem?

Hi Simon
I received a beta version of Metadatics and all seems fine now. No errors reported in minimserver logs after multiple edits and rescans.
I'm still using 0.8.2 as it's working well for me. Little reluctant to upgrade as I noticed quite a few threads for synology owners.
All the best
Anton
