Sorry, didn't explain clearly - that's the issue - the License tab shows a Full license with no expiry date. 'Deactivate Full license' is highlighted suggesting a Full license is active. However Minim Watch is red and the Server status shows Error and 'License file not found; resetting to Starter Edition'.

The Status and License tabs contradict.

A couple of enforced restarts later everything seems to be cleared and the Full license activated - David

RE: Melco Audiophile NAS
Hi, I have just bought a second user Melco N1A/2 non ex model.
It has minimserver installed. Do I need to apply for a new licence? Or re-install?
I have read the licencing agreement and it seems to suggest that licences are not transferrable.
Sorry if this is the incorrect thread for this question.

Thanks very much for your honesty and for wanting to do the right thing. You are correct that a license is for the use of the original purchaser only. You should deactivate the other user's license and purchase and activate your own license.

Hi Simon,

Thanks for the reply. If I get Melco to upgrade my player to the EX version, will the licence automatically be included as part of the upgrade? I am new to Melco, but used minimserver version 1 on my old QNAP NAS and quite liked it. I have also used Twonky. Skinny server and Logitech, but my preference is for minimserver on my (new to me) Melco.

RE: Melco Audiophile NAS
The Melco EX upgrade does not include a MinimServer full license. It provides three predefined profiles for browsing Classical, Jazz and Rock/Pop libraries but no other features of the MinimServer full license such as the ability to view recently added and recently played files, enhanced artwork when browsing your library, and the optional MinimStreamer package for transcoding audio and playing internet radio streams. The EX upgrade also includes a limited version of the SongKong tagging program.

RE: Melco Audiophile NAS
Hi, I am very new here, I got new Melco N1A/2EX, still waiting upgrade power supply. It will be on my hand at tomorrow.
I would like to go with Z model - but price is too much for my pocket.

Anyway, I already purchase MinimServer2, only need to install and activate when Melco N1 is on my hand.

And SongKong also, I purchased it, too. I am very exited that I should run these both software hands in hands!

My question is, MinimStremer. I use Chord TT2 DAC. And I had M-Scaler, and sold it couple months ago. Now, I have MinimServer and I thought that it does not provide any up-scaling feature so I have to buy M-Scaler again!
But I found some articles which mention about MinimServer, which do "Transcoding", which means similar to "Scaling".
So there is MinimStreamer that will do transcoding by some config change.
I usually up-scale 44.1KHz to 705.6KHz, 48KHz to 768KHz, like M-Scaler does.

I know, up-scaling is not a good choice for Hi-Fi purist, but if I can install MinimStreamer on my N1A/2EX and it provides this feature, I would not buy M-Scaler again just now, first try to use this function and see how it taste. If it is as good as M-Scaler(probably not but at least 50%), I can save bunch of money, at least now.

Any suggestion, advice, solution can be very helpful to this Melco-MinimServer novice. Thanks in advance! Wink
