Minimserver 'standby' problem

Hi all,

I use Minimserver on my QNAP nas to work as a music streamer for my Linn Majik DSM. Now i encounter a problem, after about 15 minutes of not using Minimserver is switches to 'standby' mode, this means that i cannot 'see' the server in my music program to control my Linn device. The only way to solve this is to use the 'rescan' option in Minimwatch to turn the server 'on' again and make it visible to use.

Is there a solution for this problem? Because my computer is two stories higher that my audio system, and the walk up two stairs is a bit uncomfortable.

There is no "standby" mode in MinimServer. This problem might be caused by the QNAP going into standby or it might be caused by network issues that are causing network messages to be dropped.

Which music program are you using and on what device?

What happens if you open a web browser and visit the MinimServer status web page? Does the page display and does displaying the page cause MinimServer to become active again (without clicking the Rescan button)?

I just called it 'standby' to point out what is going wrong

I use minimserver on my QNAP TS-210 to act as a music server for my Linn Majik DSM. My control point is either my 2014 Macbook Air or my Iphone 5s, both with the Linn Kinsky control software from Linn.

I do have to option turned on in my QNAP, 'when inactivity occurs for 15 minutes the drives go in standby' might that cause the problem?

This QNAP option might be related but it shouldn't cause a problem. When Kinsky sends a network message to the QNAP to browse or play music, the disks should spin up automatically.

Please try my suggestion about the MinimServer status web page and let me know what happens. You can open this page either from your Macbook Air or from your iPhone.

And does MinimServer come alive for Kinsky after you have accessed the status web page?
