Regrettably, the QNAP forum requires you to be a registered user before you can access the link (one wonders why). Unregistered users are however allowed to browse the forum. Are you able to give me details of the relevant area of the forum, and the topic title? David |

I now have FFMPEG working with MinimStreamer on the NAS. With the new setting option in MinimStreamer 0.5, it couldn't have been simpler. But for those who are interested in but not confident with this kind of installation, here are the details of what I did. The link in the post to which Simon linked points to the download of a single file (size about 15.5MB) called simply 'ffmpeg'. I downloaded this to a suitable location on my PC. My ReadyNAS Duo v2 makes two folders visible on the network - 'backup' and 'media'. MinimServer on the NAS points by default to 'media/Music'; the entry for the contentDir property is '/c/media/Music'. I made a new folder called 'FFMPEG' in 'media', and copied the ffmpeg file to this new folder. On the System Tag of the Properties dialog, I set the stream.converter property to '/c/media/FFMPEG/ffmpeg' (not including the quote marks), and added transcoding from MP3 to WAV16; my stream.transcode property is now 'flac:wav24, mp3:wav16'. I then copied an MP3 album to the NAS (which had hitherto been FLAC only), did a rescan in MinimServer (which also provided the restart needed for the new properties), streamed the album I had copied to my player, and was happy to see Bubble DS report that it was indeed a 16 bit WAV stream. So thanks to Simon for changing MinimStreamer to make this work, and heartfelt thanks to csholmq on the QNAP forum for producing the required static build of FFMPEG for ARM; judging by the description in his blog, this was no trivial task.
