Minim Server does not start on OSX - 10.7.5
Dear Simon,

I guess we have a new issue on the OSX front: Suddenly, I cannot start MinimServer any longer. The app was running and crashed (see attached log). Any attempt to restart the app now will end in a new crah. I have deleted the cashed storage but still the issue persists.

I can just assume it might be related to the update of OSX to V10.7.5 which I did recently. I think they have updated the Java version?!?

Best regards,
Andreas.

From the information in this log, this looks like it may be a problem that has been reported previously and is fixed in the latest development code. Please try downloading a test build from this link and let me know if this fixes the problem. Thanks!

RE: Minim Server does not start on OSX - 10.7.5
Dear Simon,

no, this was the version, I have been using already. I have re-downloaded it and started it over again.

Different result this time: I get asked to select the directory with Music. I select the directory in the dialogue, press ok and receive an error that the directory does not exist. Interestingly, the path displayed is wrong because the last directory is doubled - e.g. /Volumes/Mac01/Musik/Musik (whereas /Volumes/Mac01/Musik would be correct).

Of course, the server doesn't start. Interestingly, I cannot access the Properties dialogue (nothing happens when I press the menue item).

Does this make any sense to you?

Best regards,
Andreas.

The 10.7.5 update includes Gatekeeper. For details, please see this page. For the first circled selection, which option do you have? To run MinimServer and MinimWatch, you need to set this option to Anywhere.

RE: Minim Server does not start on OSX - 10.7.5
Interesting! I thought Gatekeeper was new to Mountain Lion (10.8.x) but not for Lion (10.7.x).

However, the option is set to Anywhere. I have also checked Firewall setting, which are ok - allowed for MinimServer.

I have included the log and config file for your assistance. Maybe that helps.

RE: Minim Server does not start on OSX - 10.7.5
I've installed 10.7.5 to see if I can get MinimServer to work correctly.

I wasn't able to reproduce the problem with an incorrect content directory path or the problem with being unable to open the Properties dialog. However, I did have some problems with the Gatekeeper firewall, as described in this post.

I've updated the MinimServer download at this link with a newer level of code. I'd suggest that you delete the previous download and move up to this level. It's possible that some of the problems you've been having might have been caused by the previous download.

This updated download should work correctly on 10.7.5 if the Mac OS X firewall is disabled. Please try it and let me know if you have any problems.

RE: Minim Server does not start on OSX - 10.7.5
Hi Simon,

I have downloaded you Version 0.52f using above link and deleted everything that hints towards the old app (app itself and config directory in user/Library), set Gatekeeper to "Anywhere" and disabled firewall completely. Then I did a restart of the machine.

However, the issue persists: I cannot lauch MinimServer. Now I event don't get as far that the content directory is requested. The app just opens (yellow icon in the top right corner) and thereafter the app crashes - see attached report.

I have Parallels V7 on this machine, also the Java for Mac OSX 2012-005 Update maybe this is the problem?

RE: Minim Server does not start on OSX - 10.7.5
Hi Andreas,
From the latest crash dump, it looks like this is an ohNet problem that is probably related to having Parallels installed. When Parallels is installed, it creates additional network adapters, and there have been previous problems with ohNet and its handling of these additional adapters. In this case, it looks like ohNet is crashing while trying to set up an SSDP listener on one of the additional Parallels adapters.

The problem isn't related to the Java 2012-005 update. I have this update installed, and it's working OK for me.

I'll report this to the ohNet developers, and I'll keep you informed of developments. I'm hoping they'll be able to produce a fix for you to test.

Best regards,
Simon
