Unexpected end of file error in 0.8.1 update 25
I just updated to Minimserver 0.8.1 update 25 today and noticed a few items missing from my library. In checking the logs I found the following "Unexpected End of File" errors.

Quote:Scanning directory Live At The Loa - Summer Wind
Error: unexpected end of file at offset 180049984 in file --- Downloads/The Ray Brown Trio/Live At The Loa - Summer Wind/01-Summer Wind.aif (length 180049984)

Error: unexpected end of file at offset 158223064 in file --- Downloads/The Ray Brown Trio/Live At The Loa - Summer Wind/08-Bluesology.aif (length 158223064)

In searching the forum I did find that this was an issue in 0.8.1 in the past, but has been fixed for some time.

Unless I'm mistaken I had no issues with these under my last installation (update 21 or 23).

I'm running Minimserver under Mac OS X 10.9.2.

I'm happy to upload a file for analysis. In the mean time is there a way to roll this installation back to an earlier release?

Thanks!
Andrew

There are no changes in MinimServer update 25 that could cause these messages.

If you want to roll back to confirm this for yourself, you can do the following:

1) From the minim icon, select Properties
2) From the properties dialog, select the Packages tab
3) In the 'Other package' field, type: minimserver-0.8-update-xx where xx is the previous update you want to install
4) Click the Install button and follow the prompts to remove update 25 and relaunch MinimServer

If you'd like me to look at one of these files, please upload it to my FTP server. I'll PM you the server details now.

OK. Rolled back to update 21 and, indeed, I'm still getting the same messages.

The very strange thing here is that I know I've successfully indexed these files in the recent past (within the last 3 weeks). I did update some of the tags on these in that time, but I updated a number of others as well to no ill effect.

This appears to be happening to 3 albums. All were downloaded from HD Tracks at the same time and I updated the metadata on them at the same time. I know that I've played them via Minimserver.

As an aside, I'm using JRiver Media Center 19 for tagging and library management on a Windows 7 Machine which mounts this library directory via an SMB share. I've tried re-writing the tags with no improvement.

This file has 4 bytes of garbage (?) at the end of the file after the last chunk: 0x08e4a880. According to the AIFF format, this should be interpreted as the start of a chunk and should be followed by a chunk length. MinimServer hits the end of file while attempting to read the chunk length.

Is there a way to avoid the error? I have tried many players, for example, and all work just fine - i.e. they can play the file. I understand it's a deviation from the strict AIFF spec.

MinimServer needs to scan the chunks after the audio chunk to read any metadata that might be present. A player would probably stop reading the file when it has found the end of the audio chunk.

Understood. So I have two options:
1- Clean up the AIFF files. How?
2- Have Minimserver ignore the error. Possible?

Many cataloging apps are immune to this error (iTunes, JRiver, Audirvana2). Why is this an issue here?

See example file in: http://goo.gl/Dy5Ta1

Thx.

Miguel

I tried this file and MinimServer didn't report an "end of file" error. There was a warning about an incorrect TYER frame.
