reverseName handling for Composer tag
Quietly a new MinimServer version arrived and brings (among many other things) the much awaited name-reversal feature. Many thanks Simon!!

I just played around with it and I have a little issue with the display of reversed composer names.

I have composers tagged as (example)
* Alkan, Charles-Valentin (1813-1888)

When I apply reverseName property, I get:
* Charles-Valentin (1813-1888) Alkan

It would be super-cool if there would be a way to append the biographical info to the end rather than in the middle.

Many thanks!

Thanks for trying this. I'll add a check for parentheses in the next update.

Thanks Simon.

I need to alert the LUMIN folks to support this feature. LUMIN does not differentiate between display, sort and index display, so my Composer-Listing now starts with Aaron Copland....

The only value that the LUMIN app would receive is the display value (unless it does UPnP browsing of the MinimServer browse tree, in which case it might be able to get the index value).

ok, I send them a note thru Facebook anyway, lets see what they say...
Controlpoints really need to play catch-up - apart from LUMIN I dont see any at the moment up to the game....

This additional info should be handled correctly in update 26 (now available).

I can confirm that it works perfectly Smile That was a really quick fix. Many thanks Simon !!

Now I just need the proper support from my favorite control point.....

RE: reverseName handling for Composer tag
Simon, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere you suggesting to have longer artists/composers as (for example)
Beethoven; Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827)

Does the "reverseName" function work with this format?

If you tag the composer as:
- Beethoven, Ludwig van (1770-1827)
then MinimServer reverseName function will correctly convert this into:
- Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827)

I got that... But will have to retag everything! Which isn't the end of the word but if it's coming that it will work in the way I have (which was IIRC suggested by Simon) then I'm not going to leap in and retag everything!
