Questions on tagging of wav files
Hi

After installing the new version of minimserver, I could not view the tagged wav files while viewing my library. They still appeared under the head 'untagged'. I then retagged the files using dbpoweramp, and they now appeared as tagged. Is there any way of avoiding this, and making sure they appear as tagged?

Secondly, even after tagging some of the files, they appear as tagged files, but are also shown under the 'untagged' option. Why is this so?

Thanks

Which program did you use to do the original tagging?

There are two ways of tagging WAV files (LIST/INFO and ID3v2). MinimServer supports ID3v2 tags but not LIST/INFO tags. Perhaps the program you were using to do the first tagging was writing LIST/INFO tags.

This is probably caused by having more than one copy of the same file in your library, with one copy being tagged and the other copy being untagged.

Thank you for your reply.

Originally I had also used dbpoweramp to rip and tag the files.

As regards the files appearing in the untagged list: dbpoweramp gives you an option to
overwrite the existing file while adding tags, which I have used, so its unlikely there are multiple tags, but I will check.

Thanks for helping.

There is an option in dBpoweramp to write WAV tags as LIST and/or ID3. You might have had this option set to LIST when you first ripped and tagged the files.

Hi

Further to the discussion above, I find now that certain untagged flac files, even after tagging, appear in the 'untagged view'. I added the album tag, so they appear in the 'albums' view but also as untagged. There aren't multiple copies of the files, I have checked both locations, and they are the same. What could be the reason for this?

Thanks

I think you will find (eventually) that you do have duplicates of these files. You can use Kinsky on Windows or BubbleDS/BubbleUPnP on Android to show the URI for any audio file in your library. This URI contains the path to the file. From this information, you should be able to find the locations of the tagged and untagged files.

Yes I do use bubble and get the url of the files (long press on the track-show metadata), the paths are the same. But I will check again.

Thanks

OK, thanks. If the complete URLs are identical, I will need to look at the file to see if I can reproduce the problem.

Hi

I checked again and the paths are the same for the files. Could you give me instructions, and I will send you a file.

Thanks

I've sent you a PM with the server details.
