Thank You. First Questions and Problems...
Hello Simon!

Yesterday I found someone mentioning MinimServer and that now it could be installed in my Synology.
I am so happy to finally find a server that enables us to browse in a logical way, and not help us finding what we want, but also make us learn more from our own collection! This is Brilliant work.

I was always frustrated by other solutions. I liked Jremote (but implies turning on the host of the JRMC library all time..not the best).

So... let me post a few problems I found...I prefer to post it here first, maybe some are more due to myself instead of bugs...

Part 1) PC installation (windows 7)
- I installed MinimServer with no Problems; it took a while to start (it remained in yellow mode...then green and was able to find it with Linn Kinsky. And first reaction was (wow, now it works as I like!!!).
- I installed MinimWatch. But no luck with this one! Remains "grey" and with no access to Properties and the other first 5 options in the menu.

Part 2) NAS Synology installation (DS712+ running DSM 3.2)
- Installed java as explained here and restarted NAS
- installed "MinimServer-0.52-x86.spk"; restarted NAS

2 issues.
- I have Java SE for Embedded 6 installed BUT...when I check on More status is "Stopped".
- Maybe because of this previous issue, I have MinimServer on the "installed" section, but also cannot Run it (stays stopped)...

Possible problem. I have both files in the public folder of NAS:
ejre-1_6_0_32-fcs-b05-linux-i586-headless-05_apr_2012.gz
and ejre-1_6_0_32-fcs-b05-linux-i586-headless-05_apr_2012.tar.

- Should I remove them, or one of them from the public folder?

Final question: does MiniServer always read all the ContentDir before becoming "green"?

Thanks for you for the great work!
This has immense potential to became the perfect solution (from someone who uses foobar, JRMC, Synology Media Server, eLyric from psaudio, Logitech Media Server...)

Hi mike,

the Java Installation will never show that it is running in the package center, this is intended behaviour. As long as the MinimServer spk could be installed and didn't claim about a missing Java installation, your Java installation should be OK. You may delete the files in your public folder, they are just needed during the Java installation.

There seems to be an issue with the x86-package, which is already addressed by Simon (see this post), which prevents MinimServer from starting. Please specify your Synology DS Model and the version of DSM you are running.

cheers, winxi

I am using: NAS Synology (DS712+ running DSM 3.2)

It seems I have the same problem:
"starting MinimServer
MinimServer: startup error
java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: /volume1/@appstore/MinimServer/lib/libohNet.so: /lib/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.4' not found (required by /volume1/@appstore/MinimServer/lib/libohNet.so)
at java.lang.ClassLoader$NativeLibrary.load(Native Method)
"

I hope it's easy to fix...would you recommend upgrading to DSM 4.0? I am reluctant to upgrade to last DSM ans this 3.2 version seems very stable.

Ok, so your problem part 2 seems to be identified Wink About part 1, i'm sure that Simon will come in.
This problem is not directly related to the DSM version, as it seems to be present with the latest version, too. However, i would recommend to upgrade to the latest version, as there were lots of useful changes since 3.2 and i can't complain about stability issues with 4.0. BTW, DSM 4.1 will be officialy released soon.

MinimWatch doesn't display anything for a MinimServer instance running on the same machine. This would be confusing and unnecessary, as the MinimWatch tray icon would look identical to the MinimServer tray icon and provide the same functionality. MinimWatch is intended for remote monitoring of MinimServer instances running on other machines in your local network. I'll update the website to make this clearer.

Already answered by winxi. I hope to have a fix within the next couple of days.

Quote:Final question: does MiniServer always read all the ContentDir before becoming "green"?

Yes, it does. The first time you start MinimServer, it needs to read the contents of every audio file, and this can be quite slow. On subsequent restarts, MinimServer uses a cache file and only reads the contents of new audio files that haven't been read previously.

RE: Thank You. First Questions and Problems...
I've got a test build that should enable MinimServer to run on the Synology Intel x86 models. You can download it from this link. Please try this and let me know whether it installs and runs OK.

Simon, happy to report it works!
The MinimWatch also connected automatically.
And noticed that I was able to add 2 fields from Library (Style and Period) very quickly.
Also Restarting the server on NAS is now very fast (much faster that restarting a server installed on my laptop).

Big Thanks!

RE: Thank You. First Questions and Problems...
Thanks for the positive feedback. Smile

I've replaced the previous official Synology x86 build by this test build, so other Synology x86 users won't run into this problem.
