RE: FLAC to WAV24 sound quality in 0.8.1
Interesting!
CPU usage increased when I started streaming a 24/192 recording. Previously the troughs were at about 10% (or a bit less) with the streaming going they went up to approx. 40%. In both cases the peaks were less than 100%. Memory usage saw no discernable change at approx. 25%. Bandwidth, about 15min ago (before I put on the 24/192 file) is got up to approx 2.5 MB/s and then dropped back to its background level, which is basically the baseline on the graph. I put the 24/192 file and it produces a plateau at 1MB/s with occasional troughs down to ~0.6MB/s. But it is in the main a plateau. So it would seem that the mains over ip is working up to 1MB/s and that this is not sufficient for the higher quality files. What I will do later is to take transcoding off and look at the stats and in the meantime order a long cable. Wonder what the max is? Pretty long I think because they put this stuff all over big buildings, so hopefully I can get a 10m one. I have to say that compared to my desktop, which admittedly is a bit of a monster, the network does appear slow. But it runs what we need it to. But I will have to look into get a faster network in the future. We will be decorating our living room soon and get a new carpet too, so I will take the opportunity to get my streamer hardwired. Can I ask you another question please Simon? Because I installed the MinimStreamer I had a look at your discussion of internet radio in the help files. Now I know that my NAIM has internet radio on tap but running though FooBar using just .m3u files is very attractive and I very soon got the three Linn stations working beautifully and these are about as good as I-Radio gets IMHO. But is there a way to just display one of them rather that the two options you describe. Only the one that goes through Minim Server works in FooBar anyway, so any way of doing that? Not really a problem if there ain't btw. |

I will also try to 'transcode' first, ie I will convert a 24/192 file to wave24 and then try and play the WAV file. Hopefully FooBar or something similar will do the trick.

Is it the one that goes through MinimStreamer (with transcoding) or the one that goes direct to the station URL (without transcoding)? |

The one that had minimserver as part of the URL worked, so I guess that was with transcoding.

RE: FLAC to WAV24 sound quality in 0.8.1
Yup I do.
btw I produced a 24/192 WAV file and that kept stopping too, so I would say it is defintely a bandwidth problem. I will get a long cable to confirm this - always useful to have one of these. |

You can prefix the stream ID with an * (example: [*R3]) to force a single MinimStreamer URL to appear in the list instead of the default pair of URLs. |

Lovely Jubbly Simon - works a treat.
btw I tried my Naim Uniti on WiFi, which worked but still was not fast enough - not surprised though. |
