Why only mp4 videos? What to do when tagging not possible??

Over the years I have collected a few thousand music files and videos of concerts and operas mostly received via satellite. It was a lot of work to tag the music files with puddletag, but no insurmountable problems.

I was impressed by the fast an perfect representation of the tagged music files by minimserver.

For the videos, tagging looks impossible. Although all of them can easily be played by most of the good players on pc, the current libraries of avconv and ffmpeg do not allow to remux them.

I therefore must find a way to index them by extracting meta information from the filenames which are in the format "composer - title - artists (year)".

Is there a possibility to do get those files indexed by minimserver without embedded tags?

MinimServer is a music only server, so it isn't possible to index video files.

I read that, but some .mp4 videos are already indexed and imho it would not be too difficult to do it for other containers too.

I don't have any plans to add video support to MinimServer.

mp4 is a special case because it includes both audio and video, so the mp4 audio support in MinimServer might allow mp4 videos to work as well. This is untested and unsupported.
