RE: Tagging classical music

Having reached the same conclusions the hard way and having finally sorted out the delimiter for my tagging software, I am now using your style (except for conductor) for classical works and am delighted. You have also explained the comma which appears in the list on BubbleDS. There is still the question of visibility when there are several artisit and I find the easiest way to see the data is to tap the now playing screen to see the lot. To have them scroll would be neat but may not be worth the effort. A scrolling list would need to be implemented by the control point, not the server. Quote:I also have been trying to get the pdf booklet view working. At present I have put the pdf in the same directory as the track files and given it the same album name as the jpg file. It appears this is not enough but I do not understand the detailed instruction on where to put the pdf file as it refers to a BubbleDS directory. Where would that be other than on my control point? Sorry to be so dense. I am not sure what you mean when you say the instructions are referring to a BubbleDS directory. The .pdf file needs to be in the server library in the same directory as the track files. The filename of the .pdf file must exactly match the tagged album name (after making allowances for illegal characters). Alternatively, the file can be named folder.pdf or booklet.pdf. |

There is still the question of visibility when there are several artisit and I find the easiest way to see the data is to tap the now playing screen to see the lot. To have them scroll would be neat but may not be worth the effort. I have an example with pdf and jpg files in same directory as the tracks as you describe and the cover art is displayed OK but when I select booklet from now playing screen I get the following message:- [quote] This album has no PDF booklet attached. To attach a PDF booklet to this album, copy the PDF booklet on your SD Card in the BubbleDS/booklets directory, with the following naming convention: <album title>.pdf The booklet for this album would be located as: /storage/emulated/0/BubbleDS/booklets/Händel - Alcina (Ferdinand Leitner, Capella Coloniensis, Sutherland, Wunderlich).pdf [quote] The above file title for the pdf is exactly that for the jpg which works well. The pdf opens fine in pdf viewer and contains an 80 page document. Any ideas as to what might be going wrong? Is this too a question for BubbleDS? Budge |

I would be very interested in getting feedback from MinimServer users, the trial creates a detailed report showing exactly what has been matched and what metadata has been added so you can see if it would work for you.Hi Paul, Tried SongKong last night and so far I am not getting on very well. I followed installation instructions for Linux (I am running openSUSE Leap42.2 which is 64 bit, with KDE desktop) and ran the shell script. Seemed to be OK and SongKong v4.6 (Trial) opened a window on my desktop. My experiences so far:- 1st try the album was not found in musicbrainz or anywhere else. 2nd try with a different album, the album appeared to be found but I was unable to find any screens to compare my present tagging with what is proposed. I had expected to find this but could not open anything. 3rd try with same album and while going through the tabs on Monitor Watch Folder the application crashed with a message to report to you. Sadly I couldn't cut and paste the message so I shall try and replicate. Do you wish me to proceed to give you feedback and should I communicate here, pm or email? Budge |

RE: Tagging classical music
Simon, perhaps a silly question but please could you post pictures of your personal property settings?

These settings change frequently as I test new MinimServer features and try to reproduce problems that users have reported on the forum. I don't think it would be helpful if I were to post today's snapshot of all my settings on all my server instances. |

If I persevere with SongKong I shall post in that thread although my only interest is for classical music. Thanks for the advice. Budge |
