2 servers with a Wiim?
Sorry if this has been addressed before. I did search but might be using the wrong terminology.
I have an iMac with an external HDD containing my ripped CD collection and use Minimserver (free version so far) to access this wirelessly on my HiFi with a Wiim Pro Plus streamer. It works very well. I now want to extend the facility so that my wife’s ripped CD library (also on the same HDD but in a different folder) appears as a *separate* home music share server within the Wiim app. Is this possible? Not sure if it’s a Minimserver or a Wiim question. |

RE: 2 servers with a Wiim?
This is definitely a server not a WiiM question.
I'm not sure what is possible on a Mac regarding multiple instances of a single application. So someone may come up with a more professional solution. I currently see the following options: Run one native Minimserver on the Mac and a second one in a docker container. Please don't ask me about the technicalities of docker ... or Add a custom tag to your and/or your wife's music files like LIBRARY and populate it with "Kilchattan's Music" and "My Wife's Music". You can make this a list item and keep your libraries separated while only running 1x Minimserver. But this only works with a licenced version of Minimserver. or Browse by folders only on 1x Minimserver. or Run 1x Minimserver and 1x another UPnP server like Asset or any other one you find decent enough. |

RE: 2 servers with a Wiim?
You can run two instances of MinimServer on your Mac by doing the following:
1) Purchase and activate a MinimServer full license or activate the free 30-day trial. You need this to unlock some system settings that you will need to change. 2) If MinimServer is running, close it 3) Create a second Mac user account 4) Use Fast User Switching to login to the second account without logging out from your main account 5) In the second account, start MinimServer 6) From the MinimServer menu bar icon, select Configure 7) Click through the welcome page and select the License tab 8) If you have purchased and activated a MinimServer full license, you should get an automatic upgrade to a MinimServer full license for this second instance of MinimServer. If not, activate the free 30-day trial. 9) From the MinimServer menu bar icon, select Properties 10) On the Server tab, change the displayName value (for example, to include your wife's name) 11) On the Server tab, set the contentDir property to the folder containing your wife's music 12) On the System tab, set http.port to 9792 and set ohnet.port to 9793 13) After making all these changes, restart MinimServer 14) Use Fast User Switching to login to your main account without logging out from the second account 15) Start MinimServer from your main account 16) You should now have two instances of MinimServer running, one for your library and one for your wife's library |

Once you have set up the second user account, it will run in the background and do nothing except run the second instance of MinimServer. The key to making this happen is to always use Fast User Switching to switch from one account to the other. When the Mac is rebooted, you will need to repeat steps 4, 5, 14 and 15. You can use Login Items (for both users) to start MinimServer automatically when the user logs in, which would mean you only need to do steps 4 and 14 after a reboot. |
