RE: Restriction of BBC Radio HLS/DASH to authorised third parties
I happened upon a site recently that lists the BBC streams that still do work. I can't paste them all in here because they'd span hundreds of lines and I don't believe it's possible to upload a zip for securuity reasons. I've tried attaching the .m3u files to see if that works.

Attached File(s)
.m3u  BBC-Radio-lstn-HLS-.m3u (Size: 6.76 KB / Downloads: 9)
.m3u  BBC-Radio-HLS.m3u (Size: 11.59 KB / Downloads: 9)
.m3u  BBC-WorldService-MP3.m3u (Size: 250 bytes / Downloads: 1)

The URLs mentioned in other posts above as being available on the GitHub website are still working fine for me, I recommend checking it out.

Thanks! They're the files I'm using, so I must have got the configuration wrong.

RE: Restriction of BBC Radio HLS/DASH to authorised third parties
I'm new to using MinimServer. It works great at playing my music files stored on my PC on my Cyrus CX2 streamer, controlled with Cyrus' Cadence app.
I'm now trying to set it up to stream BBC Radio channels. The Cyrus streamer used to be able to stream BBC Radio stations but lost this when the BBC changed it technology a couple of years (?) back. Cyrus decided against upgrading its kit to resume streaming of BBC channels
I've down-loaded the playists from GitHub via the link in Marmite Sandwich's post (#125). I can get the HLS m3U file to play on windows media player, on my Windows 11 PC, [Although every station is displayed with the same name -BBC RAdio] However, I can't get it to play on the Cyrus streamer via its Cadence app. Cadence recognises the downloaded file as aM3U playlist, but when I open it all the station addresses are greyed out and can't be selected.

Is it possible for me to stream with a MinimServer/ MinimStreamer/Cyrus set up not?
If it is, what do I need that I haven't got or what changes do I need to make to my-set up?

NB. I'm a bear of little technological brain so could suggestions be couched in simple terms. Thanks

Can your Cyrus streamer play aac streams? If not, do you know what codecs it will happily stream? You should be able to use Minimserver/Minimstreamer to transcode the streams to a codec that it will play. It just takes a little setting up.

Here's the relevant bit of the user guide:

https://minimstreamer.com/userguide.html

Have a look through that, up to but not including 'Input Type Filters', and see if that gets you the gist. Then it's a question of identifying the details for your setup.

The m3u playlists as downloaded from GitHub will need just a little modification to get Minimstreamer involved. If transcoding is required you'll need to specify just what that is in stream.transcode in the Properties/System tab in Minimwatch.

"Cadence recognises the downloaded file as aM3U playlist, but when I open it all the station addresses are greyed out and can't be selected."

This makes me think that your Cyrus might not allow the playing of internet radio streams from a playlist, which is also the case with my Cambridge Audio NP30. With the NP30, we got around this by using the unit's web interface to directly enter and save stream URLs to its internet radio presets. Is that something that is possible with your Cyrus, either via the Cadence app or a web interface? Cambridge Audio's tech support were helpful in working some of this out. If the Cyrus won't play streams from a playlist, and there's no way of saving URLs to internet radio presets, you might be out of luck.

RE: Restriction of BBC Radio HLS/DASH to authorised third parties
As I understand it, the Cyrus should be able to play radio streams streamed via MinimServer/MinimStreamer via its network source input. You would need to run MinimServer/MinimStreamer on your Windows PC and add your radio stream playlists to the MinimServer library.

As mentioned in post #137, m3u playlists downloaded from the internet containing radio stream URLs need a small modification to enable them for use with MinimStreamer. For example, if the m3u file contains the following lines:

#EXTINF:-1,Some Radio Stream
http://the/url/for/this/stream

you can enable the stream for MinimStreamer by changing the #EXTINF line to this:

#EXTINF:-1,[Some Radio Stream]
http://the/url/for/this/stream

With some streamers, additional changes to the #EXTINF line or changes to MinimStreamer configuration properties might be needed. If the m3u change suggested above doesn't work for you, please post back here for further guidance.

RE: Restriction of BBC Radio HLS/DASH to authorised third parties
Thanks to you & Simon for your advice. I've made the change Simon suggested [bracketing the station name]
The names of the stations are now visible in the playlist when opened with the Cyrus controller app, but they are still greyed out & unclickable.
From a net search the cyrus streamer can play AAC files (?up to 330kbps) Also MP3, WMA, AIFF, FLAC, and WAV files up to 192kHz/24bit.
Can you advise further?

Thanks
