Stopped working since update
I was prompted to update and so am on the latest Mac (Intel) version of 2.2
However, ever since Minimserver pops a startup error of: UPnP multicast group 239.255.255.250 is not aaccessible [sic] and I'm not able to do anything else. Nothing else has changed on my router/computer. I have tried restarts, delete and re-installs but nothing works. I have also downloaded alternative serving software (eg Linn Kazoo Server) which is able to stream without issue but I would prefer Minimserver. I am running MacOS 12.7.6, Minimserver points to a music folder on an external drive and I stream to a streamer on the same network. I'm a bit stumped and not sophisticated enough to sort this out through networking, but this was all working fine in the minutes before I hit update so I can only think the new version has introduced a bug or needs me to change something. |

RE: Stopped working since update
Just to say I have a very similar problem, although it only occurs when I try to run MinimWatch (v 2.2 r4). It will not run. MinimServer itself seems to be working OK.
I am aware of the MinimWatch problem with Sequoia and was waiting for an update. I was hoping that the issue might be resolved with the new release of MinimServer. I have checked in the Local Network permissions but there is no instance of MinimWatch there to allow. My error message says: "MinimWatch startup error. UPnP multicast group 239.255.255.250 is not aaccessible" |

Have you installed both of these? How are your network settings configured? I have seen this message but only when there is no network connection (wired or wireless) enabled for the Mac running MinimWatch or MinimServer. |

The network seems as before. I’m on Mojave so it doesn’t have all the network restrictions I need to select, but no changes on the router, tried with Firewall on and off, etc. Linn Kazoo works on the same network and set up with no tweaks required. I know I’m using an old version of MacOS and later today I will be able to try using Sequoia with a different Mac but this machine isn’t what I want to use. Thanks for getting back to me. If you need more information let me know. |

The message about multicast group 239.255.255.250 is only produced for MinimWatch or MinimServer running on macOS. If you are running MinimServer on any other platform (such as Synology), you will not get this message. |

I suspect it is triggered by a configuration of network interfaces on your Mac that is different from what I am using. I have a test build that should enable MinimServer to start without this error message being produced. I have sent you a PM with details of how to install the test build. Thanks for your patience as I work though this problem. |

You can find out by running this command from a Terminal window: /usr/libexec/java_home Please post the output from this command. If you are not using Java 21, please try installing this with no other changes (don't install the test build) to see if it fixes the problem. |

RE: Stopped working since update
Music has returned! So I'll let you know what I did in case there are others.
As a test, I was able to download Minimserver and successfully run it with the external drive attached to an alternative M1 Mac on Sequoia and the same network. For my Intel Mac (where I was originally running) I: 1. Deleted Minimserver and the associated Library files (although I suspect minim server.config was the main one to remove). 2. Reinstalled Java (21) -- I'm not sure what version I was running before, but I thought updating might make a difference. 3. Reinstalled Minimserver and pointed it to the external drive folder Was it a corrupt config file or something with Java? Delighted to be back up and running. For those interested, my excursions to other servers showed that Linn Kazoo works with faults but is slow and doesn't play nicely with my Streamers' app. AssetUPNP is slow and weirdly only was able to stream an incomplete version of my files. Useless. |
