Playlists, MINIMSERVER, Denon HEOS
I am currently using MinimServer installed on a SonicOrbiter, and the Denon HEOS client.
Under the main selection window in HEOS you are given the choice of :
Browse Folders
Artists
Albums
Genres
Tracks

I am interested in being able to list, select and play Playlists within the HEOS app. Is there a way to add Playlists to the list of selections using MimimServer for HEOS, or is this a limitation of the HEOS tool?
Sorry if this question is elementary.

Thanks
Jack

The HEOS Browse Folders selection doesn't do what you might think from its name. It opens the full MinimServer browsing index, from which you should be able to view and select your playlists. You should also find that using the full MinimServer index to browse and play your music gives you a better experience than using the HEOS Artists/Albums/Genres/Tracks selections.

RE: Playlists, MINIMSERVER, Denon HEOS
HI Simon,

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I CAN get to and use the playlists using the Browse Folders selection, but they are listed along with the total contents of everything else in the folder. I have a lot of scrolling to do using that method, and simple search on .M3U doesn't work/respond.
I was hoping to be able to add a filter to display only .m3u, m3u8, and .fpl lists appearing in that main folder. Is that possible with MinimServer?
Can I do this with a tag? There are several different tag choices and I'm not sure how to go about it if the server will accommodate it.

Thanks

I don't have HEOS myself but from what I recall from previous forum posts, the Browse Folders selection in HEOS should take you to the top-level MinimServer index with the first three selections being n albums, n items and n playlists. Do you see this or do you see something else?

Hello Again,

No, once I select Browse Folders no other directories or choices are presented. Just the total content of the files in the folder.

Thx

I tried HEOS a couple of years ago so this might be out of date now, but when I selected Browse Folders it displayed the root of my MinimServer content directory, which for me was a listing of AlbumArtist folders. From there I had to choose one of the folders then select '>> Tag View'. This is how you view the MinimServer indexes through HEOS.
In order to see Tag View for my entire collection I created an additional directory in the root of my content directory e.g. /Music/EXTRA_FOLDER_FOR_MINIMTAGVIEW/AlbumArtist, then browsed into EXTRA_FOLDER_FOR_MINIMTAGVIEW and selected '>> Tag View'.

Is what you're seeing not the contents of your MinimServer content directory.

I recall now that this came up a few years ago. It is a strange "feature" of HEOS. There is a workaround in this post.

Another workaround might be to use BubbleUPnP as your DLNA control app instead of the HEOS app. BubbleUPnP sees my HEOS device, a Denon LinkHS2, for rendering.

BubbleUPnP gives you a separate screen listing playlists.

BubbleUPnP works on Android devices, so if you are imprisoned in the Apple world of iPhones and iPads, ignore this suggestion.

Actually, for anyone making significant use of MinimServer's many features, Bubble has IMO the most logical and intuitive interface. It also opens any MinimServer instance that it finds directly at the top level menu.

Hello,

I am running a SonicOrbiter, and BubbleUPnP is pre-installed. I seem to remember it doesn't support FLAC? I do remember that it has some other limitations also. Not sure since it's been a while since I tried it and it's likely that it's been evolving over time. So I will check it out!

Simon pointed out a post to a solution that kind of works:
https://forum.minimserver.com/showthread...7#pid38697

I have a Denon AVR and I kinda like HEOS, but it could be much better than it is.
I use Android devices and have several Squeezebox Touch and Duet boxes in use and they work exceptionally well (except for the fact that Logitech just killed their muysqueezeboc.com service). The Logitech Medial server did everyting I wanted or could think of, but with no video like HEOS has.

At this point, about MinimServer, I need to get a better understanding of Tag View and how to use it.
I don't seem to quite "get it".

Thanks

Thanks,
