RE: The control app thread
I never did solve my problems listed in points 2 and 3 of post 163 in this thread. I started to use Sound Stream and HR Streamer, but then ran into the same problems with updates. I've now updated to the latest Synology OS, can no longer use BubbleUPnP, and Docker is incompatible with my NAS. I still have an older version of LUMIN running on an M1 Mac and have no problems. Also on iOS, as I've always experienced, reconnecting can take a long time and sometimes I have to restart the app. Can anyone explain where the problem lies and whether it can be solved? Thanks in advance.

RE: The control app thread
“1) The app updates the music library automatically every time I open it, even when music is playing. Previously, this function was only in Setup and is manual.
2) The pause “button” does not work.
3) When browsing under Album Artist, I'm no longer able to view Artist/Composer in the track information. This is a problem when viewing albums that contain more than one Artist/Composer, i.e. compilation albums.“

1) the app always update automatically (and always did) when one or more albums are added to the library, it doesn’t update automatically if you change some metadata

2) are you using the app with a Lumïn streamer or something else? If the latter you need to run (and configure) Bubbleupnpserver to get the OpenHome compatibility that is needed by Lumïn app in order to have full functionality. Bubbleupnpserver can be installed on the nas too, refer to the Bubbleupnpserver web site

3) unfortunately some app layouts have been changed few release ago.

I’m a long time Lumïn app user (on iOS) and never experienced long reconnection time to Minimserver, it sometimes happens that the renderer is lost, in this case a swipe off of the app and relaunch solves the issue

RE: The control app thread
"1" is not a problem now, only "2" and "3". I'm using MinimServer installed on a Synology NAS, where my music files are also stored. With Synology DSM 7, I can no longer use BubbleUPnP, and my NAS is not compatible with Docker. I use Upmpdcli on RPi4 as the renderer and previously used a Bel Canto Design REFStream with the same problems. I've contacted LUMIN and they've been unable to explain where the problem lies.

RE: The control app thread
You should try RoPieee on rpi4 and enable in Services - UPNP/DLNA OpenHome option , it works fine and you can skip Bubbleupnpserver

"my NAS is not compatible with Docker" => Is it really incompatible? My NAS has an intel CPU and docker is not offered in the package manager, but downloading it manually from another NAS's repo and installing it manually, does work. But the CPU has to be intel, not arm.

RE: The control app thread
regarding 3) => did you check the settings? There is something about enabling composer. But it might only be a composer tab. I am not sure.

The meta data that is viewed when long touching the currently playing album cover has been reduced though. It does not offer the "year" information anymore. And I think the genre is missing, too. I always wanted to report it to lumin.

"pause" does work when using it with a lumin streamer. But the app is not perfect. Sometimes it looses the connection to the lumine u1 mini partially. You still can start another track. But it is not displayed that it is playing and the time is not running. Or when adding a track it does not show up in the playlist.

I think the linn app would be much better if it would offer the setting to enqueue a track into the playlist on touch a track in the library without starting it immediately. You alway have to use the three dots menu to add a track to the playlist. This IMHO is annoying and quite often you accidentally interrupt the currently playing track.

Pause works fine if:
You have Bubbleupnpserver installed, running and configurated
You have a OpenHome compatible renderer (like RoPieee)

Thanks, it is Intel.

RE: The control app thread
Thanks for all the replies. Some things for me to try there. The renderer I'm using, Upmpdcli, does support OpenHome. I've used Linn Kazoo (I believe this is no longer supported by Linn... ?) and agree it can be annoying. I'll try writing to LUMIN again because I'm getting the impression that some functionality with tabs/tags has been lost in recent releases. With the older LUMIN version I'm running on M1, I'm using the exact same settings with no problems.

RE: The control app thread
Lumin control app have just updated their app to include a cheery black and bright amber display option. Comforting for the winter evenings perhaps....
Still my favourite app in spite of its occasional moodiness.
