Looking for non IT geek
Hello

Just bought the MinimServer licence hoping that will help to finally use my QNAP NAS as a music server for my Yamaha CD-NT670D, but guess what.... Not at all. Still Yamaha sees ...NOTHING. So... I'm looking now for someone reasonable, normal, not spending whole life to look in the screen like a zombie. Someone who realize the life we living is not for strugle with such a problems. Anybody can explain me step by step like for a child in the fog how to operate that shit? How the hell someone who's not an IT worker, just an average guy with some will to listen his own library from the HDD can do this... Without a headache caused by reading completly not understandable lines of text about weird black magic procedures... Anybody?

I'm curious... really...

If you select Open from the MinimServer icon in QNAP App Center, do you see the MinimServer configuration web page? If so, MinimServer is running.

When MinimServer is started for the first time, it can take some time for it to show up in UPnP control points because it is reading and indexing your library files.

RE: Looking for non IT geek
But it can take weeks? ? Cause if so, that's not a solution for me anyway.
I'm not changing anything on my NAS.
Don't save any more new music for awhile, for a quite long time actually.
Qnap (hardware) is always on power - like any server do. 24/7.
So... Really it can read the content for longer than a few days?
I think it's nonsense. Whatever.
But thx of course for Yor reply simoncn.

RE: Looking for non IT geek
The first scan can take up to one hour if you have a very large library (but only the first scan because after this MinimServer uses a cache for unchanged files).

If you select Open from the MinimServer icon in QNAP App Center, do you see the MinimServer configuration web page? If you see this page, MinimServer is running and we need to move on to the next fault-finding step. If you don't see this page, MinimServer is not running and we need to find out why not.

RE: Looking for non IT geek
Thansk for confirming this. Which control point app are you using to view your MinimServer library? For example, is it the Yamaha MusicCast app? If you stop and restart the app, does this make the MinimServer library appear?

Yes it's an Yamaha MusicCast app and no, it doesn't change anything. Still nothing visible.

Thanks for confirming this. The next step is to power the NAS off and on. In situations like this, this sometimes solves the problem.

RE: Looking for non IT geek
Ok. Now it looks like it helped. But the question is for how long. I think I accidentally did that step week ago, when the power saver died, and NAS turned off. After restart it was working for... 7-8 tracks. After those few songs everything turned back to normal. Not working state I mean ??
