Minimserver crashes / Synology / ogg files?
Hello Simon,

two days ago I started listening to an album (flac, ripped from CD) when suddenly the music stopped. All tracks of the playlist were skipped after the streamer tried to play them (lumin U1 mini). So I did look for crash log files and found more than I thought. I could send them via PM or email? (50 files from 2023. zipped 1.7MB)

MinimServer 2.2 update 240, Copyright © 2012-2023 Simon Nash. All rights reserved.
MinimStreamer 2.0.11, Copyright © 2012-2022 Simon Nash. All rights reserved.

All files that I did check started with an ogg file that was scanned. (I scramble the ogg file name in the attached log)

Regards
Gert

RE: Minimserver crashes / Synology / ogg files?
I don't need to see the other crash log files. To find out what is causing this crash, I will need to see the ogg file that was being streamed. I will send you a PM with details of how to upload this file to my FTP server. Many thanks.

RE: Minimserver crashes / Synology / ogg files?
It wasn't an ogg file that was streamed. The streamed one was a flac. It was played fine after restarting minimserver.

The ogg file seemed to be indexed or read by the lumin app in the background, I guess?

So I send you 2 ogg files that are mentioned in the log files, ok?

Thanks for clarifying this. I will try the two ogg files you are sending and let you know what I find.

While investigating this problem, I have found evidence that it might be related to the version of Java that you are using to run MinimServer and/or the platform that MinimServer is running on. What version of Java and what platform are you using to run MinimServer?

RE: Minimserver crashes / Synology / ogg files?
The NAS is a Synology DS418play with DSM 7.1.1-42962 Update 5

A java package seems not to be installed as own package. So I think minimserver is using its own java?

admin@troken:/volume1/@appstore/MinimServer$ ./lib/minimjre\(linux-x64\)-14.0.1.dir/jre/bin/java -version
openjdk version "14.0.1" 2020-04-14
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 14.0.1+7)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 14.0.1+7, mixed mode)

Does minimserver tell the used java version on the web config pages somewhere?

Thanks for this information. The Java version is shown in the log window and the minimserver.log file. It is unusual for the Java version to make a difference but this can happen sometimes.

I have run a test with your files on my Synology NAS and I am seeing the same error. I will work on a fix and I will keep you informed.

RE: Minimserver crashes / Synology / ogg files?
Are the ogg files broken somehow or is it simply a bug in the software?

RE: Minimserver crashes / Synology / ogg files?
It is a bit of both. These two files are truncated from their correct length in a way that has confused MinimServer, which does not expect this to happen.

The fix could be either for MinimServer to reject the files as broken with a suitable error message or to accept the files and produce a warning about the truncation. I think the latter is preferable and this change will be in the next MinimServer update.
