Problem with 2-port Synology NAS

There's been some discussion on the forum about a problem when running MinimServer on Synology NAS models with 2 LAN ports. The symptom is that music sometimes stops playing at the end of a track, part way through a playlist.

The current workaround is to set the ohnet.subnet property as described in this post. This solves the problem, but it means that every MinimServer user with a 2-port Synology NAS needs to apply this manual setting.

I now have a test build that should fix this problem without the user needing to set the ohnet.subnet property. This should work with all possible configurations of the Synology LAN ports:
a) Link aggregation not configured, one port connected
b) Link aggregation not configured, both ports connected
c) Link aggregation configured for IEEE 802.3ad, one port connected
d) Link aggregation configured for IEEE 802.3ad, both ports connected
e) Link aggregation configured for fault tolerance, one port connected
f) Link aggregation configured for fault tolerance, both ports connected

I'd appreciate it if a few Synology 2-port NAS users could try this test build and let me know whether it fixes the problem. The test build is available for download from this link.

To try this, please download and install the test build, then do the following:
1) In MinimWatch, remove the ohnet.subnet setting
2) In the Synology Package Center, stop and restart MinimServer
3) In MinimWatch, check that ohnet.subnet is no longer set
4) Play some music

Please let me know whether this works for you and which of the above LAN configurations a) through f) you are using.

Simon, is this specific for any NAS with two network ports (I use a QNAP TS410 that has two) or is it dedicated to the Synology NAS's?

This problem and the test build are specific to the Synology 2-port NAS.

Have you had any problems with running MinimServer on your QNAP 2-port NAS?

Hi Simon, no I haven't :-), just wanted to make sure if I ever change anything that I am aware what else might be affected.

I think this test build has had enough testing by now to confirm that it does fix the problems that some users have been seeing, so I have updated the MinimServer website to make this the main download for Synology x86.
