MinimWatch greyed out
I have just installed Minimwatch on an Apple Studio and the icon is greyed out (Can't see minimserver)
I have Minimserver running on a Synology server and it can be seen by my network streamer. I have restarted, rescanned, uninstalled, installed, removed update 96, re-installed update 96. The minimserver page comes up when I look for 192.168.0.115:9790. The machine with minimwatch is on the same network. Is there anything else I should try? I had it working on an older Mac. Could it be that Minimwatch does not run properly on the new M1 chip? |

RE: MinimWatch greyed out
MinimWatch and MinimServer have full support for M1 Macs.
It sounds like the Mac firewall might be blocking incoming network connections to MinimWatch. There are a few reasons why this might be happening. The instructions for installing MinimWatch on a Mac are in this section. If you haven't dragged MinimWatch to your Applications folder before launching it (see step 4), this can cause the problem you are seeing. To check your Mac firewall settings, do the following: 1) In System Preferences, open Security and Privacy 2) Select the Firewall tab 3) Click the lock and enter your password 4) Click Firewall Options 5) Check that Block all incoming connections is not selected 6) Check that Automatically allow downloaded signed sofware to receive incoming connections is selected This should be sufficient but to make absolutely sure that MinimWatch is receiving incoming connections, you could add it to the list of applications manually by clicking + and selecting MinimWatch. |

I turned it on and made sure that Block all incoming connections is not selected. Automatically allow downloaded software to receive incoming connections is selected. I uninstalled minimWatch, downloaded and installed it again, making sure that I dragged it to the applications folder. I then removed and added MinimWatch to the Allow incoming connections list. I then started MinimWatch and it is still grey. Restarted, still grey. I followed the instructions to install Java. I have version 8 Update 341. MinimWatch is still grey. |

RE: MinimWatch greyed out
I am glad you have solved the problem. I am surprised that MinimServer was visible to your UPnP control point but not visible to MinimWatch running on the Mac Studio. This would normally indicate a problem with something in the Mac Studio setup.

Control point (Cambridge Audio Streamer) sees the MinimServer on my Synology DS220+ (and I am bale to play off it) but not on my PC with MinimWatch- connected to the same network. MinimWatch is greyed out. On windows firewall - no joy when I turn off the firewall and restart MinimWatch. Java Binary SE allowed thru firewall. On the log - do not see an entry for subnet. Nonetheless have set subnet to 255.255.255.0 from the network connection info - but then get an error message from the java app that MinimWatch not found at that subnet. I have rebooted the Synology NAS, no joy. WiFi network set as private. MinimWatch had been working fine for a while now but over the last some months has not been working. Also MinimServer is running when status checked with the IP and 9790. Any help is appreciated. Thank you. |

RE: MinimWatch greyed out
Are you meaning you set the ohnet.subnet to 255.255.255.0 ? That is the subnet mask.
Assuming your router address is 192.168.1.1 the ohnet.subnet should be set to 192.168.1.0 |

RE: MinimWatch greyed out
This means you have some other subnet active on your PC (perhaps a VPN) and MinimWatch has chosen the wrong subnet by default. In the MinimWatch log (shown by selecting Options > Show log (watch)), you would have seen a message saying what is the active subnet. The active subnet is the subnet that MinimWatch has chosen by default. Specifying an ohnet.subnet value overrides this default choice and makes MinimWatch select a subnet of your choice.
