Multiple instances on Synology NAS

Currently I use Asset mainly because it supports multiple instances.
I have one instance for FLAC Lossless and the other for a LAME 320kbps.
I use the LAME version when travelling in the car as it chews up less data on my cell data.
Thinking of trying Minimserver.
Want to check as the cost is a lot more than Asset and the exchange rate is poor in Oz at present.
Can Minimserver have two or more instances with the full licence version?

You shouldn’t need to run two instances.
Using the special value #AudioFormat in indexTags property will show you the different file types in your library and you’ll then be able to navigate inside each Audio Format.
Here is how this shows up in my library (see attachment)

The other potential option you have is to configure MinimServer with just your FLAC library and then install MinimStreamer and have it offer both FLAC and MP3 streams of those files using its transcoding abilities. This assumes you can tell your control point to pick the MP3 stream though, so that would need testing.

As far as I know only models supporting Docker can run multiple instances, but someone with more know knowledge about Synology will be able to confirm that.

What device(s) are you using to run Asset UPnP? You can run multiple instances of MinimServer on most devices.

I should of added that I am using a Synology DS220+. DSM 7.
This afternoon I tried a docker download and followed instructs but as yet it has not appeared in my server list on my music player as a UPnP selection. on my Android Tablet ( the Minimserver starter does appear but not the Docker instance).
Minimserver does give me the ability to shuffle & play from any folder or sub folder which I like to do. Asset does not do this for me (at present anyway).

Did you set the network type to Host when you created the Docker container? If not, this would explain what you are seeing.

I followed the instructions-
Running MinimServer 2 in a Docker container on a Synology NAS:
17. On the Network tab of the Advanced Settings page, check the box 'Use same network as the Docker Host' You will see a message saying that you cannot join other networks.

Also restarted / rebooted Router, NAS, Tablet & even the PC.

Are you are using the Synology firewall? If so, this might be blocking access to the Docker instance of MinimServer.

The workaround for this is to set the ohnet.port property for the Docker instance (a value of 9792 should be suitable) and open this port number for inbound communication in the Synology firewall.

Tried allowing port 9792 for both udp and tcp.
Also turned off the firewall.
Still cannot see another instance on my tablet (tried 3 players).
All I can see is:
Minimserver
Asset FLAC
Asset LAME
All 3 of the above are functional (ie working as expected).

No second instance of Minimserver presented (think it should be called Minimserver1).

Minimserserver1 status in Docker is "Running".

Are you able to view the MinimServer Properties window for the Docker instance to see and change the values of ohnet.port and http.port?
